Im recently gathering types of drums sounds that i use often..and gonna get some high quality versions mastered. and just use them as my full time kit.

I also tend to use alot of the same scales.

on sampled beats i use 1 particular cymbal on my break points

And i usually phase or reverse my intros...

my structure for composed beats are the same...nothign real fancy yet

this only comes with a few years under ya belt

    everybody has their own sound........

sadly alotta ppl online have to get past that stage of lameness

i think makin hot beats has alot to do with you being conscious of yourself and what you make

some ppl trully dont kno when the shit they make is wack or not....which is prevalent on these boards

cats try to apply too much science to something that is built purely off emotion

and some of the cats here just dont need to be makin beats....theres a few that have been makin beats for 3 years and still sound like they just started......i mean, makin beats just isnt for everyone, but if thats what they love to do, who is to stop them?

just ummm......dont go around the boards givin advice if thats the case....lol

i got stuck on my 808 kit and i dont like using anything else

i use the 80 drum, snare, and hi-hat in EVERYSONG, i might add another drum and a clap or snap just to layer my drums and snares, but its always my 808 kit, aint like i got many drum sounds to pick from

I am suprised this hasn't turned into a "it doesn't matter if you have your own sound, if it's hot it's hot if it's wack it's wack" argument.

For me, you can usually tell because of certain sounds I use, and because most of my songs just have the same kind of upbeat vibe to them. Many of them have hella changeups that you don't always hear in rap songs. I rarely have beats that just follow the same loop over, and I always put breakdowns in that sound different from the rest of the song. I do have a few songs that don't sound much like I did them, but there's usually a common link in all of beats, aside from Therapy sessios.

M a dark dude so the beats gotta be dark with some emotion, wierd drum programing ("I've been told"), obscue samples, thumping basslines, and mad strings and haunting keys wen m composing by ear not gonna claim im a mozart.
