    1. noise reduction
    2. hiss reduction
    3. compression and expansion
    4. normalization

Is there anything else I should do? What do you guys do? Ive heard all kinds of things about EQing and De essers or something, can you help me out with some info?

lol...you destroy your vocals with all that crap...

noise reduction is fine...fuck hiss reduction...just learn how to speak...you can use a little compression if needed..but I wouldn't...

fuck expansion...and use normalization a little...

you guys need to fix the problems at the source...make the recording perfect, and all you will have to do is mix the volumes.

    I never normalize..

I use noise reduction, some sort of compression though it isnt totally needed, a light reverb.. thats all I remember, aint recorded in forever though.

Well, Im saying, hiss reduction has nothign to do with how you speak, you can easily pick up his from the computer screen and other electrical appliances.

Also, to the person who said "don't compress".....YOU MUST COMPRESS unless you want the volume of your vocals to vary throughout your verse.

But do you guys know of any other things that COULD be done? That we haven't discussed?

Gating can help take out some of the breaths between your words if you set the attack really fast...but thats optional...lmao@learn how to speak

you should use light compression. and very light reverb, but 90% of the people on here arent trying to do recording at a professional level.

The volume won't vary if you know how to spit. - I have studio quality tracks and I've never EVER used a compressor.

Actually you aren't supposed to normalize above 96% because some cd players and speakers will still distort if you go over that.

I don't normalize and uhm.. my shit comes out nice on my car speakers and such.. (MOST of it), sometimes I try slightly different methods to see what it'd be like in the car so it varies.
