  1. John Williams - (who's fucking with Jaws theme? I mean seriously. This man has laced so many classic movies with his signature sound it's incredible)

Danny Elfman - (with a knack for creating erie scores for suspense films such as Sleepy Hollow, and action movies, (Spiderman, Twister, Men In Black), he's made his stamp on film.

Howard Shore - Lord Of The Ring. Need I say more? He fuckin' owned.

John Williams is OVERRATED AS FUCK.........he composed HUNDREDS of shit that aren't all that good.........that Dracula soundtrack, for example, was wack as fuck.......not to mention Revenge of the Sith, that shit had a couple of hits, and he had to borrow Terminator's theme in the single.......

ennio morricone > all... nothing tops 'once upon a time in the west' or 'once upon a time in america'

bernard hermann, vangelis, lalo schiffrin, nino rota, and angelo badalamenti are also favorites

i agree that john williams is overrated. no doubt he makes good music, but most of the films he scored would have been huge successes without him. the fact that the films are so endeared and frequently watched, the music just naturally becomes recognizable as a part of people's memory banks even if it all starts to sound the same... plain vanilla standard trumpet-blaring fare.
