I appreciate Eminem... he's just not one of my favorites because I don't care for his music too much... Eminem is a far superior lyricist/rapper than Too Short, but I dig Short Dawg's music more. Get it?

Notice, I also don't have heavyweights like Pac, Rakim, Jay Z, Pun, Big L, or Kane in my top 15, as well... "favorites" to me is all about emotional connecton, not necessarily pure technical skills... Pharoahe might be the most technical emcee ever, but he also has great style, flow, emotion and content... if you can flow for days, but ain't saying nothing or your music lacks soul or I can't relate to it, then you won't be a favorite of mine... it has nothing to do with color, region or time period.

If I was doing a "best of all time" list, it would be much different... because then I would be considering things that are valuable outside of my own sensibilities or perspective.

Respect for having El-P in your list... he seems to be more respected by critics than fans... IDK... but the dude continues to make classic hip hop music... rappin' or producing... and yeah, I dig his rappin'.

I am able to recall the things I enjoy with relative ease and can convey these things to others in hopes that they better understand me. I also enjoy the things that I enjoy enough, in almost any facet of life, to find pleasure in the mere introspective and communal recitation of them.

definitely a favorites list, but eminem is multi talanted... at one point he was flawless at everything he did... from lyrics, to painting a vivid picture, to having a superior flow...

dude has done so much, and I love to argue with Ignorant about him cause Ignorant will give every rapper on earth credit before he gives eminem credit.

You should make a top 10 list of ways to kill yourself, leave it on the dresser as a final goodbye, and then go fuck yourself.

as for the eminem thing: what does eminem need to do short of a reverse michael jackson skin disease in order to break onto your top 15?

as for everyone else... look, I got no shame in putting the top niggas from the 90s on top of my favorites list, because in the 90s, the BEST rappers were the popular ones. thats why the 90s were so great. If you were the best, you were the most popular and you sold the most... (there were a FEW exceptions like Big L, but for the most part, thats how it worked.)

pac, BIG, Eminem, Nas all had/have that emotional connection in their music... hell they're the best at making it. And theyre not just good at one thing, theyre good at several.

for me, favorite/best are the same if were talking all time.

a "greatest" conversation would be a different story though.... then everybody would come in with the same damn list.
