I normally dig compelling visuals, especially if they are central to the theme, beautifully acted and directed. I don't mind tense action sequences with fighting and shootouts, but there are certain scenes that do take me aback, because of it's very nature, excess, or surpise element. What are some scenes in films that you saw that were just unsettling and hard to watch?

    I'll start...

    1. "American History X" - the curbing scene is gruesome, I can't watch it.

    2. "Misery" - when she breaks his ankles with that sledgehammer... ooooohh!

    3. "What's Love Got to Do with It?" - I can't watch a man beat up on a woman like that.

    4. "Raging Bull" - when Deniro's character punches out Pesci at his dinner table in front of his family... that hurt.

    5. "Casino" - watchin' ole boy get pummeled with a bat was too much for me.

  2. Lyme

    Lyme Guest

Pet Semetary - When that dead kid slices that old chaps ankles with a scalple.

Also, Zelda from that movie as well.. twiggy rotten looking dead bitch

    That whole movie branded me...

This old horror movie series called House.... where that hand pulled them into the toilet then they were padalling around down there and into that house... vague memory with this movie... but I remember that suicide.

When Freddy came thru that water bed...

    1. where kevin bacon was talking to the kid in the park. just uneasy due the nature of paedophilia

    2. most of one hour photo was disturbing to watch. you just didn't want him to do what you were thinking

    3. in the home invasion scene in henry: portrait of a serial killer. just a bit freaky and disturbing

    4. cannibal holocaust. nearly all the scenes were wild. just gross, rather than disturbing

    5. the eye scene in hostel. i got hit with a rock in the eye before and nearly lost my sight. so that scene had a weird effect on me

irreversible- in the beginning when the guy gets his head caved in with a fire extinguisher. that was brutal

audition- at the end when the chick drugs the guy and starts torturing him, then slices his foot off with that 'unbreakable' fish-line(or whatever that was).

those two came to mind immediately.

saw 1 & 2, hostel, house of a thousand corpses all had some pretty gruesome scenes.

then there are those films like oldboy(the ending) and running scared(the pedophile scene), where it's not a visual act being done...but more of a disturbing idea/concept/notion/plot twist being either implied or revealed.

    -throws Misery in queue-

wtf, clockwork is a joke lol

American History X -- Bite the curb

Collateral Damage -- where that dude gets that snake slithered down his throat

Man on fire was a bit much when he was cutting the dude fingers off and burning em with a cigarette lighter

hannibal -- when the guy cuts the skin off his face with a piece of glass, and when dude gets his scalp cut off.

Matter of fact, Hannibal is the most disturbing movie i have ever seen

    hannibal is no joke..

i thought the Scene in Evil Dead where that dark haired woman becomes a zombie and gets slaughtered was fucking disturbing..

also, in the Fly, seeing jeff goldblum transform into a human fly hybrid is fucked up, in the final scene when he captured geena davis and that other dude is trying to rescue her and he burns his fucking arm and legs to a stump with his digesting acid ..and when he cracks his human remains and exposes the final metarmophosis is sooo sickening

that whole fucking movie was disturbing, never the less amazing.

    The Hills Have Eyes

The part where the two Goonies are raping (or so it's impicated) one sister and breast feeding on the other. Then the way the older sister dies. It's so cliche that she'd survive that but she didn't.
