As far as Cristina Krichner's policies? I agree with Fareed. We've seen that type of populism before. Chavez had his version of it trying to subsidize everything with oil money. Making everything "free" isn't the way to go because everything cost something and the bill will eventually be comming. Keep an eye on inflation in Argentina.

Countries get in trouble when they try to avoid market policies. I know some countries have avoided market policies because they were given bad advice by organizations like the IMF but I think it's a matter of countries sorting out the market policies for themselves.

and i wanted to know what you think about this trend we are seeing here of workers emigrating out of the west to the non west (first world --> to 2nd and 3rd world)

this is an unprecedented thing to do. i'v never heard of any person leaving the first world to go the 2nd and 3rd worlds for work. its always been the reverse...

it sucks cuz yeah the traditionally top economies are slipping, and it effects us huge

but fuck it. I wanna get out and experience the world, and if that means that a country i was gonna try and experience is all of a sudden doing really well, that means my likelyhood of success will be higher when i go.

my quote above is so true on many levels:

"a ship is safe in harbour"
"...but thats not what its for!"

safe is lame. Get out and do something scary and envigorating.

Argentina has for a very long time been the destination of Europeans. They have the a 16lane highway and was built by the europeans. it is europe in south america. they have tango clubs and their night life is different - very different.

they have their own cattlers and wines.
