Just like people dont know they are speeding until a speed sign is posted.
so feelings don't exist without confirmation?
i think youre wrong
Ok you might be jaywalking and not know thats wrong, so theres an example where youre right.....
but everyone likes to be happy not sad, confident and not low self esteem, we all know whats right and wrong when it comes to people.
herp derp post.....just because YOU need someone to tell you doesn't mean everyone does
Objective morality argument has been attempted before and way more comprehensively than your half assed one sentence version. (spoiler)It's erroneous(/spoiler)
Just so you know.
This is about sin particularly. I gave the example of speeding/ speed limit because it works in some such instances as well.
But as far as the laws of God before the law of moses people didnt know what they were doing was wrong. There is no sin seperate from Gods laws but it was nessicary for him to define so they knew what they were doing was wrong
Sin’s Advantage in the Law
7 What shall we say then? Is the law sin? Certainly not! On the contrary, I would not have known sin except through the law. For I would not have known covetousness unless the law had said, “You shall not covet.” [a] 8 But sin, taking opportunity by the commandment, produced in me all manner of evil desire. For apart from the law sin was dead. 9 I was alive once without the law, but when the commandment came, sin revived and I died. 10 And the commandment, which was to bring life, I found to bring death. 11 For sin, taking occasion by the commandment, deceived me, and by it killed me. 12 Therefore the law is holy, and the commandment holy and just and good.
Yes, I know that. But the idea is, we wouldn't know what was "right" or "wrong", without an external source telling us. This is simply not true. Morality is innate and natural in human evolution. Empathy is the cornerstone of morality, not written rules.
Im not addressing morality in general here
Of course we dont know its wrong if you dont know the law. Thats cuz they arent always obvious.
whats the point of this thread if you dont mean morals?
i thought the law was written on our hearts
^^same applies to laws as well.
I'm glad the cop pulled my 105 pound 6'2 ass threw my car window tazed me, asked me how it felt, pocketed two bills killed two grams of blow and locked me up. I thought the eh.. pad with the shoelaces on the telephone wire was a wholesome oasis in suburbia until that day.
glad to not be that 5% anymore.
so whats the point here if we arent talking about morals
how is someone supposed to know the rules without reading them or being informed...
i dont get it
edit: don't get the quoted scriptures message.
I ment the law of moses not nessicarily the law like being good or bad
what is the law of moses
im positive people dont need a tablet to tell them that fucking your neighboors wife isnt a good idea...or killing your neighboor, or stealing his car....
Bible is superfluous to morality, at best. More accurately it is immoral, because it gets otherwise good people to do bad things. The good people who believe in the bible who do good things, would have done so anyway, but to be hateful and intolerant they needed help.
