Yeah....there's a slight difference between Paul McCartney/Hendrix and 90% of metal guitarists.

    Just a slight difference.

I don't think anyone would disagree with that. I was just disputing the point that just because metal guitarists don't know music is sufficient reason to say they suck. The majority of them suck because they suck.

I don't see how anybody can't like "Enter the Sandman" by Metallica... they play chords.

I'm not heavy into underground or death metal... I dig mainly the pop metal, hair band groups of the '80s... Motley Crue's "Dr. Feelgood" was my favorite song back in the day... Def Leppard's "Pour Some Sugar On Me"... Guns N' Roses' "Welcome to the Jungle" has the coolest introduction ever and Kingdom Come's "Get It On" has the illest drum solo I've ever heard... Skidd Row was rockin that silent/slow-building-to-loud/fast style way before Nirvana... "18 and Life" was my shit... Whitesnake rocked it with "Here I Go Again."

The same criticisms people have of heavy metal are the same that they have of rap, so I can't knock it... music has no rules... like free jazz tenor great Dewey Redman said, it's in the "ear of the behearer."

^That figures... everytime I tell a heavy metal fan what I like, they always trash it.

Sell-out or not, that song rocks... is everything supposed to sound like "Master of Puppets?"

I'd take the Black Album over their earlier work any day.

It was the pinnacle of their career, and I've never heard a good reason why it is inferior to Master of Puppets.

I think because it has intricate melodies and well-crafted hooks... and it isn't the "thrash/death metal" that they spawned on Master of Puppets.

Streetlight Manifesto is one of my favorite bands ever. If you listen to a song called, "The Big Sleep," I'm pretty sure you'll agree. Listen to some Sublime, either their self-titled album or 40 Oz. To Freedom...
