what kinda shit do i need for a decent set-up..? and whats the cost...
decent by who's standards? mine? lol
cause i work out of some $30,000-$100,000 studios that i'd hardly consider "decent" to make a quality recording in
im talkin home shit man....not a whole studio.
^^Throw A Budget Down Dogg
yeah you need a budget first off.
hell i'm throwin down at least $20,000 for my home setup. of course its a work in progress, but still, that shit wont be enough, i'll still need to take most sessions to an actual studio.
word, ive been doin audio for soooo fuckin long...but never had any good shit. i was just thinkin a couple hundred for basic shit....i have a baby on the way so i cant do to much...ya know?
the best quality you gonna get for the a couple hundred...
$100 Mic (Studio Projects B1, AT2020, etc.)
$100 Preamp (Studio Projects VTB1)
$100 Soundcard (EMU-0404, Audiophile 2496)
plus the cables and stand you looking at about $320 depending on where u get the stuff.
or u can go the usb mic route.
what site can i get that shit? so i can order it...
and what brand names u recommend so i can write em down?
I had ...
Studio Projects B1 Mic, Studip Projects VTB1 Preamp, and an Audiophile 2496 soundcard.
I always got commented about how good my quality was.
if you got a lil mixing skills u can make that shit sound pretty damn good.
but hit up sweetwater.com or musicianfriend.com and search those pieces of equipment I listed, read the reviews and whatever.
ebay is also another good place to buy equipment, if you get it from the stores on ebay, they usually are good for giving u free cables and mic stands and shit with the mic.
i know people that have a $50,000-$100,000 home studio...
well, i live in a poor place....that isnt gonna happen to me.
is that all im gonna need? to actually record...?
^^ yeah man.
just get a mic, preamp, soundcard, mic stand, pop filter, cables. and your good to go. If its all for fun then you'll be good. Depends how well you want your audio to sound.
just tryin to get heard and sound good.

im sellin mine excellent price , not expensive impressive quality
if u just want decent, lisntenable quality w/o spending lot of $ i'd jus go with a shure sm57 or sm58 dynamic mic.
if you want a brand new vtb1 pre amp i'll sell you mine for 60$ shipped, bought it when I got all my shit. jus tryin to get rid of it.
