    Let me try to help...

For those of you who have Delta 44, I wouldn't advise getting it if your just planing on running your mic to your soundcard. Another thing is the Delta 44 works best with a pre-amp and a mixer, but would do fine with either. As for plugging everything in, for a mixer you should go mic to mixer, then go from tape out to soundcard and then go main out to soundcard... I'm not sure what you should do with a pre-amp, I've only used one once and I've never plugged one up. It was at a friends house.

    Record which part in mono?
I think these kids are wondering this, and this is ALL personal preference.
There is no right or wrong way, rather it's stereo or mono.
However, I personally do the m.vocal in mono, adlibs in stereo, and hook in layers.

with a delta if you try to record in stereo it will only pick up the left side, due to its mono ins.

if someone wants to convert adlibs to dual mono afterwards, they can...

but considering the fact that he is having a problem figuring out why he's only gettin a signal on the left, i think i answered properly.

plus he didnt ask which part.

    everyone listen:

Microphones are mono input devices (usually left side) Unless your microphone has two diaphragms..it is mono. I don't care if it is a $10,000 Neuman - IT IS MONO

There are stereo mics, but you will know when you have one...

RECORD everything in MONO, EVERYTHING! this not only keeps the signal cleaner it also is easier to process for effects and saves HD space, during mixdown, pan sides, convert to stereo, etc

Delta 44 is mono in/outs which is fine for recording but wack for monitoring/mixing etc...I didn't know this until I got my used one with no manual

just wanted to get the FACTS out there

Good looks, Tax. I'm hooked up from dual outs on my pre to the 1/2 i's on my Delta. So I'm in left/left?

you are in 'stereo' or you can call it left/left if you like

don't waste your time/memory/cpu doing that man

you can monitor in stereo, and everything else in stereo

btw how are you getting dual outs from the pre on one mic input??
