Yankees are a prime example of why baseball needs a salary cap.their lineup is ridiculously good.it looks like an all star team.its not fair tbh.they have more money and their is not limitation on what can b spent.

If neone thinx this is fair please explain how

Yankees won and I'm happy, just didn't want to see Philly win it two times in a row. And yea salary cap is def needed.

The Yankees were clearly the best team in baseball this year, and they deserved the World Series win....but I'm a Blue Jays fan, so fuck the Yankees, hahaha. I'm left to watch my team struggle in turmoil (and quite possibly lose Roy Halladay) while the Yankees and Red Sox spend the equivalent of a small country's GDP on payroll. I don't think I'll ever see another Blue Jays playoff appearance as along as we're in the same division as those two monsters.

The Blue Jays had the highest payroll when they won the World Series. Right now we just happen to be owned by a company that doesn't bother to invest in the team. Now if only all the owners actually dipped into their deep pockets to try to win, we'd all be better off.

Yeah, you're partly right....the Blue Jays had the highest payroll in 1993, but even that was only due to the mid-season acquisition of Ricky Henderson. The Mets had the highest payroll in 1992. And I think you'd also agree that we can't really compare less than $50 million by the Jays to the $209 million by the 2009 Yankees.

Ah, the Mets had the highest payroll in 1992. And where were they? Having a high payroll doesn't guarantee success (ex: this year's Cubs and Mets), but it certainly helps if you're serious about contending. The problem with MLB nowadays is you have billionaire owners of smaller market teams crying poor, but then pocketing luxury tax payments. Is it any wonder that the teams who want to invest money to get better are the ones who made it to the playoffs this year?

rogers invests a lot more money into payroll now than we did in 1993.

the problem now is we pay vernon wells way too much money. at least rios is gone.

    yankees are cheaters.

Salaries have skyrocketed over the years. Almost every team spends more than what the Jays did back in '93. Rogers can afford to give every player on the team a contract like Wells and still be swimming in cash.

What they're doing is not illegal under the current system.
