It should show as least a usb device.
I remember if I was using it in another device like Ableton Live,It would not work
in the other.Only could enter in the options of one DAW at a time.
It was not untill I got the M-Audio drivers that I could use it in more then one.

Don't know how much help that was.

it could be that your midi device is still tied up in another app. sometimes that happens to me when i have a certain rack editor or sample editor open at the same time as nuendo...it usually depends on what you open first, then that program locks the device up...preventing it from being recognized in another app. even if all your apps are closed go into the task manager and make sure something isnt still lingering in the backround.

naw xp doesnt need a usb update, 2.0 is drivers are built into it.

usually what happens to me when ever shit goes wrong is that im forgetting to do something very simple or small, that i just keep over looking...double check all the obvious things:

go to options > midi settings > check the input dialog and make sure your midi controller's port name is in the list. make sure its active, if not enable it. and make sure the contoler type is set to generic. make sure the auto accept option is turned on. make sure link velocity is set to velocity. go to options menu and make sure enable midi remote control is check. double check all that.

i dont know what you mean by fl wont let you show the ubs devices in the midi settings. but your devices midi in port name should be listed in the input box.
