I used to have an old Sylvania television that did that. Then I had a Goldstar that just dilated and stretched the image out over a couple of minutes when the TV was turned on. Now I have an RCA, and it hasn't really fucked up that much yet, but I think it will within time, considering how it has seemed to have stretched out a bit near the bottom since I first got it. Watermarks in the bottom corner of your television can be used as good tools to examine its change over time, haha.

I own a regular TV and widescreen cuts off the sides of the picture. The bars dont bother me none but loosing half the screen does.

with fullscreen I see the whole picture.

    Widescreen

if the bars start to bother me, my $100 dvd player has a zoom option that makes it fullscreen

It depends on how much space the black bars take up. If I see more black bars than picture, then I have a problem. That drives me up the wall!

Usually, I like full screen. But it's like somebody said, the only time you really need widescreen is for movies with big special effects. Most of the time, in other movies, it's just cutting off half of the side of their face, or something to that nature. So you're not missing that much.

To make everyone happy, they should just make it mandatory to put both widescreen and fullscreen on the same dvd. But can't do that because that makes too much sense...

i'm pretty sure the next generation video formats [blu-ray an hd-dvd] are gonna be widescreen only, especially since most people are gonna have to buy new tv's anyway in the coming years to handle the broadcast switch to digital.

    Fullscreen.

I don't like widescreen, I've got a 60" tv, so I want to be able to fill that whole muthafucka, instead of seeing some big, wide ass pieces across the shits... if I wanted to see that, I'd whip my dick out.
