b/c it show's us our way of salvation..

not everything in the bible is ment for everyone

there's parts that's meant for the jew

and then there's parts meant for the gentile...

there's part's for the unbeliever and the believer alike..

so just b/c you don't believe.. don't go google up "why is the bible a lie" or "contradictions of the bible" before you actually go and find out the authenticity of the bible.. you put it into a category before you allow the truth to set you free...

and believe you me.. we are all in bondage only the lord jesus christ can set us free..

peace to you brothers and sisters!

    @biggayblack no, not really^^

there are some fundamental truths about life that do not care for religion, creed, or caste. they just are. kindness is such a thing...for example.

If you cut revenge out of the Bible, there's not even enough pages to make a pamphlet.

why is the bible important? It's important bcuz people are always looking for the "way". The way to dress, the way to act cool, the way to feel helpful, etc. Basically the way to live life. The bible tells you how to live life and promises you will always b happy after life. And one of the most important reasons it's important is bcuz it's really tellin you there is no "way" bcuz there will always be ups and downs so the only way to truly b happy even in the best or worst times is to "submit to gods will". Which in more philosophical terms would be "i know enough to know I don't kno much".

    not exactly.. @ jay b

@ gal that is my point exactly.. the bible teaches so much more then revenge. the bible teaches us to clinge to two things in this life love and forgiveness.. those are the two most powerful thing and within those two things one can be kind, truthful, helpful, etc.. b/c love and forgiveness is the root to those characteristics..

the bible doesn't put rules or limits on us that's what the devil wants u to think so you don't open that book.. the bible tells us stories about how the lowest person in society can be used to save their people or where blind men could restore their vision. that's a metaphor for the man in sin trapped with no vision of god in his heart.. god can remove that darkness if u let him in.. hate can not drive out hate only love can do that.. darkness can not drive out dark only light can do that..

all the war/killing/revenge u hear of is to set up the stage for the importance of your salvation.. but that's not what the bible is all about.. Jesus was a activist.. he was the originial "Anonymous" he wanted these things for us to know:

He wants a relationship with us
Jesus is the ultimate friend of man. "Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends" (John 15: 13). Jesus tasted death for every man and shed his blood for the remission of man's sins (Heb. 2: 9; Matt. 26: 28).

He wants to take us to heaven
    John 14:2-3
He wants to save us from hell
    John 3:17
He wants us to trust Him with everything
    Matthew 11:28-30

and ultimately he want's to free us from our self's and this world..

Like turning the other cheek and being a docile fool? A mere punching bag? Sounds fun.

The 10 commandments aren't rules or limitations? (a) Eww, and (b) really?

Lowest of lows came to power within socialism and communism, which turned into a fiasco.

Hate can be driven away by love? I guess Bosnia & Kosovo really must feel nothing but love for Serbia.

The bible's a really well drafted distorted fantasy reading, one that bears nothing more than fiction with pinches of impoverished explanation and teaches a person on how to be manipulated with.

"Jesus" wasn't an activist, more like a pure professional stuntman, based on who every amateur is trying to follow ~ even though we all know stunts are coordinated and have multiple special effects. The best puppet ever.

    Delusions at it's finest.

The most mass marketed drug human beings have ever consumed. Quite easy to get addicted to (by human nature) and extremely hard to realize how harmful it actually is for your life. Few have the fortitude to quit, few CAN quit. Opium to the masses to control them, when society is finally free of religion (hopefully in the next 200-300 years) that will be the bible's ultimate legacy.

Gal- in all frankness.. every reply was jaded and over opinionated to the extent that logical intellect would suggest . inaccurate and out of context...

@ nitmare i like how even the atheist use "prophecy" for their religion... so is that your prediction then?

b/c i doubt religion will EVER dissappear..

i'm not a christian so the bible's not all that important to my spiritual beliefs, but i am a westerner so it is a part of my culture and the society i live in. i don't really know enough of the history to argue just how much of an impact it's had, but i think its safe to say the shift from paganism to christianity in the west has had some pretty long lasting effects on our culture and society, and that this book is the definitive christian text. given this i would say it is a pretty important book.

i actually have many versions of it myself, none of which i've bought. all have been acquired in one way or another through friends or family or in one case i just happened to find one in the street. my favorite version is the catholic one handed down to me from my father, simply cause of how old looking it is. the thing looks like it's been buried in the dead sea for the past 2000 years.

Night ur so rediculous. If that truely were the case the road to hell wouldnt be so broad. if everyone that says they are christian really were it wouldnt be 1/1000 heaven/hell. If people felt the need to stop they usually do or else why would christ marry the backslider. You talk A LOt but nothing u say shows me u have any true understanding about what the bible actually says. sad really, dead set on fighting the one thing that could actually help u out ur hole.

yea, i had to read that several times, it was like listening to an autistic idiot savant, well, without the savant part anyhow...

i think i understood most of it, but what do

    "christ marry the backslider mean?"

i used to skate, and a backslide is a type of grind, so, are you saying there's no skaters in heaven or something?
