because if theyre not legal, you cant ban them.

consider their attitude towards currently illegal substances in contrast with their attitude to currently legal substances and try to think of a more plausible rationale than the one ive just given.

How else can you explain pushing for legal access to things like heroin whilst simultaneously agitating for ever greater restrictions on tobacco use?

It seems that far from opposing the ban on drugs they would simply prefer to do it in a slow, piecemeal fashion to prolong the enjoyment they derive from pushing people around.

this isn't even a right/left issue, at least not here in the states. conservatives, especially the religious right (almost goes without saying, right?), support keeping drugs illegal at least as much as people on the left.

What amuses me is that you claim to be an intellectual and yet you're still distracted by the idea that it matters whether you're a liberal or conservative.

It is a game. If you was half as intelligent as you think you are, you would know that.

This is a New progressivism I've never seen before.

So If a black male refers to another black male as N-WORD.
That's now racist? Does this depend on context?

I think the n-word is different because some people believe that by using it they can re-claim it. Personally, I think it's too dirty for anyone to use.

No. It's not 'new.' Primarily, racists are white, but I've seen racists of other ethnicities. Although, I guess in the US only white people can be considered institutional racists.

    Prejudice is prejudice...

Right, the majority of racist are white.
Noone should use words you don't agree with.
And only in the US whites can be considered institutional racist.

I see. I see. Anything else you wanna get off your chest?

    Still didn't answer my questions.

True... this 'identity-politics' name-calling is the greatest hindrance to free thought and is perpetuated by those who wish to remain inside of a box... and if there is no box, they will build one.
