This is what Shaq said to him when Yao Ming was coming to the NBA. All the American media outlets laughed and thought it was humorous. They were playing it on all the sports shows and sports radio shows and laughed, then they made comments like "Shaq is hilarious, you gotta love him." Shaq was forced to apologize by the league (Obviously, somebody must have wrote a letter or filed a complaint). Then all the American sports journalist said it was just a joke and it was funny and shouldn't be taken seriously. Even Steve Carr, the commentator on TNT and former Chicago Bulls/San Antonio Player said that he didn't find it offensive and Shaq shouldn't have even apologized. I'm not saying Shaq is racist and I'm sure he didn't mean harm in anyway, but that shows the ignorance in American culture towards Asians. It's not a racial slur per say, but it can be offensive to Asians. What do you guys think?
