The "irrelevant" accomplishments were not done to defend anyone or even the point you've raised, but to make it known that I had personally never seen any of these things you think are happening there because I'm not from that particular sort of background. If I wanted to tangentially brag about such things, I would bring up my own accomplishments - which I didn't. Just giving you an insight as to where I'm coming from, and making it clear that there is an "imbalance in the way wealth is distributed" as I previously stated. Whenever I go to visit in Nigeria, dudes think I'm culturally lost because I speak like an American. They call me "akata" (google that right quick). I know precisely what you mean, but the ONLY issue I had umbrage with was the "fly" comment, not because it was offensive but because it bears no relevance in my reality, or the reality of the country where my parents are from. Maybe your mom was referring to Ethiopians or something, because I know for sure I got nothing in common with them. Their niggas are the typical high-and-mighty Africans you are talking about. They got the nerve to give me attitude when they valet my car. Smh.
