    i was just listening to nas - hate me now.

    and he said he is the "first rapper to bring a platinum plaque back to the projects".

    but he wasn't really the first, was he?

    Nas aint the first platinum rapper. I know for a fact Run DMC is, I dunno if you count that as a group though or whatever.

    Yea Run DMC's Raising Hell was the first hip hop album to ever go platinum..lol at Nas being the first rapper to go plat..Illmatic didn't go plat till like 10 years after it's release.

    Wrong. No radio station would play their music and MTV refused to play their videos. That's one of the reasons why the album is so great. They went platinum in 6 months (i think) and did it with no air play at all.

    So you guys are telling me that Puff Daddy wasn't the first rapper to go platinum? You'll probably tell me puff isn't from the projects.
