Besides a shure sm58
audix's OM series are pretty good. better than the shure tbh.
I think you want to record vocals so I would say a good budget dynamic microphone would be AKG D5. I worked on it and really liked the performance, I'd even put it infront of the Shure line. The response was great with the particular artist I was recording.
AKG D88S Dynamic Supercardioid Vocal Microphone at zZounds
good looks stash
No such thing as a good dynamic mic LOL
I say get a low budget condesor mic.
Not true... electrovoice re20 is sick. I got one and u can def record rap vox with it
Even in a professional environment alot of artists/engineers back their vocals up with a dynamic microphone because it catches harmonics in a different way that condenser does. I heard really good mixes of dynamic microphones that sound like a higher end Shure. No joke it's all in the mix ... I heard neumann microphones sound like complete cow shit.
with that said .. if he knows his program he can get good quality with a dynamic microphone but condenser is always better
get a Beta58 for beatboxing
truth is the shure sm57/58 are used for vox in studios quite often...
it ur best bet for a dynamic mic...if ur shyt dont come out hot it aint the mic...cant tell u how many times I asked dudes in studios what did u use to record with and they say a plain on sm58.great all purpose microphone thru and thru
