    Shalawam! What does it mean when it says in the common book of Psalms 82 that You are Gods and sons of the Most High, but you shall die like men? Who are the Gods being referred here?

    I could see Christianity evolving into a pantheist religion.

    Jesus losing his divinity and taking on a more Buddha-like character.

    I think its pretty self explanitory
    1

    he renders judgment among the “gods”:

    “How long will you [a] defend the unjust

    2

    and show partiality to the wicked? Defend the weak and the fatherless;

    3

    uphold the cause of the poor and the oppressed. Rescue the weak and the needy; 4 deliver them from the hand of the wicked.

    “The ‘gods’ know nothing, they understand nothing.

    5

    They walk about in darkness; all the foundations of the earth are shaken.

    “I said, ‘You are “gods”; 6 you are all sons of the Most High.’ But you will die like mere mortals;

    7

    you will fall like every other ruler.”

    Rise up, O God, judge the earth, 8 for all the nations are your inheritance

    In the bible God is referred to with a Capital G.
    gods in v1 and v5 is referring to idols

    In v6 its referring to our inheritance as children of God.

    The english version gives it no justice

    The Hebrew word translated “gods” in Psalm 82:6 is Elohim.

    Elohim--- (םיִ֔הֹלֱא)

    is a grammatically singular or plural noun for "god" or "gods" in both modern and ancient Hebrew language.

    Another thing to take into account is
    that this is a Psalm. Psalms are praise, poems, worship, and songs to God.
    So the perspective is different, than it would if it were being spoken to us.

    In Gen 3:5, the Hebrew word used for “gods” is the same Hebrew word used for “God”, which is “Elohim”, which refers to the Creator, as this is the same word used for God in Gen 1:1 “In the beginning, God created the heaven and the earth.

    Gen 1:26-27 “And God said, Let us make man in Our image, after Our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth. So God created man in His own image, in the image of God created He him; male and female created He them.”

    The word “image” is used several times, and Hebrew word that is used is:

    צלם (tseh’-lem) From an unused root meaning to have resemblance

    John 10:34-35 34 Jesus answered them, Is it not written in your law, I said, Ye are gods? 35 If he called them gods, unto whom the word of God came, and the scripture cannot be broken;

    the Bible doesn't explicitly deny other gods, it simply states that YHWH is supreme.
