Shadow's belief may also call into question what it means when we are told "Love God with all your heart." Because if you commit a sin in your heart and have not sinned... then if you have loved something with all your heart, who is to say that you have really loved it at all?

I guess you would have to confirm your love through actions. Therefore, if God loves anyone he should really confirm it through actions himself, right?

Shadow: Does God love us more than Jesus did? If so, he would have to do more than sacrifice himself for us. Dare I say, he might have to give himself over to us completely to be molded in our own image just like he created us. No?

U gotta read the bible in context. Who was speaking to whom, from what standpoint and what culture. The verse is in reference to a married man in those days adultry was punishable by death. The verse is speaking of commiting adultry in your heart, lusting after another woman like pornography. In your thoughts.

this is very interesting for me because for all these years i have been under the impression that all sex outside marriage was classed as adultery by biblical standards. in trying to look up anything to confirm this i came across this page which deals with biblical verses which deal specifically with premarital sex:

Premarital Sex - Not A Biblical Conflict

it seems there is arguably a much more liberal school of thought to be considered. under this author's view, fornication is not actually even a sin.
it was in fact that verse i cited along with the murder verse you mentioned that we looked at in my bible study class in 9th grade which really started to drive me away from christianity.. as the teacher interpreted this as jesus 'upping the ante' so to speak and extending all sin to its mental and spiritual root. so using his interpretation it would apply to homosexual thoughts and desires if we consider that the bible says that men laying with other men is a sin. then again i'm not so confident that his interpretation is the correct one since he's the same person who gave me the idea that all fornication was adultery..

are you not of the belief that the bible specifically condemns homosexuality (be it fornication or not)?

i do read it with context in mind, because i realize that i have to consider the context when reading stories that were crafted by ancient men. that doesn't exactly help convince me that it's actually true.

I read that God calls those who don't omit sins, we all commit but he looks for those who don't or try not to omit. Who knows if it's true though.
