    Topic =

explain the thoughts that go thru your head after sleep deprivation rolls along another day.

    The clock says 3:37 a.m.

Everyone's asleep in the United Kingdom..

Except one man, who has no dreams to follow.

My wife's asleep, but I'm still awake while sharing this room,
Eyes wide open, my mind's hoping for sleep as I stare at the roof.
I'm scared of the truth, that I've become an insomniac,
As it's been 7 days since waking hours have stopped my tracks.
Insomnia has taken over, and there's no way to fight it off,
It's been 7 days and no wink of sleep, can a man survive this long?
I've tried it all, from home remedies to prescribed medication,
But none of them have worked, they have all just left me aching..
..From spending every night awake then, making my eyes glare,
And forcing me to start day dreaming of nightmares.
So I lie there, scared, as this pitch darkness laughs at me,
My wife dreams of paradise, whereas I breathe this harsh reality.
My heart is at my feet, as the morning sun frees the clouds,
And I've been awake so long that I'm running out of sheep to count..

I need to get some shut eye or even some peace at best
It's now the 10th day without sleep, insomnia doesn't seem to rest.
I need to get out of here, cause I feel so stuck and unable,
So I kiss my wife's head, then pick my car keys up from the table.
The clock says 4:07 a.m. and I'm jealous that my wife is asleep,
But I disregard it, then hop in my car and drive to the beach.
I put my foot in the sand, as the surrounding crops have blossomed,
And then I quickly throw skipping stones across the water.
I sit down in sand, and I can see a child who sits there smiling,
As the early sun glimmers on the ocean like a cloud's silver lining.
My wristwatch tick tocks 6:33 a.m, and this is time to hurry,
Cause I think I better head home, just incase my wife is worried.
I hop into my car, but I'm feeling drowsy and useless inside,
I'm losing my mind, but still, insomnia has itself glued to my eyes.
I put my foot down and drive, as sweat sticks to my face,
I notice the roads are empty, so I start to quicken the pace.
Something begins to happen, sleep starts to weaken my eyelids,
As this straight road trails off into the bleak horizon.
I accelerate, going faster and faster as adrenaline pumps my heart,
Then I turn a blind corner quickly, and collide with another car..

    "One new voice message received:
Hey baby, I woke up at 6:00 a.m to try and astound you,
But I realised you weren't there, so I started to worry about you.
Your lack of sleep hurts you, and it's breaking my heart,
So I'm coming to find you, by the way, I'm taking the car."

My cell phone played the message of my wife's magic..
Voice, as I lay in a twisted pile of rubble of car metals and fabrics.
I couldn't even move a muscle, and my heart was tense,
Whereas the other car had flipped and crashed into a garden fence.
Next thing I knew, paramedics were pulling me out,
And the other car was in flames, as fire trucks were putting it out.
I could hear what was happening, but I didn't have visions to see,
But I heard that the other victim was in worse condition than me.
Then my ears crashed with the noise of a loud booming bang,
But that's all I can remember, as after that, I drew a blank.
The nightmare played again, it went from stop to start,
As the screams echoed through my mind from the other car.
I was severely injured, at first, I was thought to be dead,
As I lay within a deep coma upon the hospital bed.
The other person involved was unknown, she had injuries like me..
..It was my wife, as she lay half dead in a coma beside me.
Covered in third degree burns, as the incident played over and over,
And I had finally got the sleep I wanted, in the form of a coma.

    This is a true story.

It happened to my friends mother and father..

    Now the mother is dead,

My apologies ... I haven't really had a chance to come up with anything - been busy with classes and work. I signed up late and spent the past week catching up on assignments.

I've got a day off tomorrow though - so I could put together a verse if you'd like to have yours compete against something - I feel like an ass for having you write that piece for nothing on top of dropping early...

If the extension is granted - votes will go here.

It's at your discretion; you could just as well take the no-show win - if that's the case - then good luck in the rest of the Tourney...
