WEEK 5 of the RAPMUSIC PREDICTION LEAGUE
UFC 146: Dos Santos vs Mir
    [IMG]
    A record breaking first,
the UFC has but together an all Heavyweight 5-fight Main-Card.
Three notable changes happened as well,
    Evan Dunham,
    Edson Barboza's opponent,
is injured and has been replaced by MMA Veteran Jamie Varner.
Also Lavar Johnson is replacing Mark Hunt against Stefan Struve,
and Frank Mir stepping in against Junior for Alistair.

    THIS SATURDAY, MAY 16TH 2012

    5-Fight Main Card
    HW Championship:
    CHAMP
Junior dos Santos vs. Frank Mir
    Cain Velasquez vs. Antonio Silva
    Roy Nelson vs. Dave Herman
Stipe Miočić vs. Shane del Rosario
    Stefan Struve vs. Lavar Johnson
    All @ Heavyweight.
    No longer entitled "The Heavyweights"
(many contenders surprisingly have dropped off the still impressive card)
Dos Santos vs Mir will still be a TRUE NIGHT OF MMA.
I personally haven't watched the Prelims in AWHILE,
but I may be forced to this week,
with the likes of Jason Miller,
Dan Hardy and Edson Barboza on the undercard.

Make your picks easy to read (you all do :) ) and make sure to have fun with it. Were all doing great right now, me and Mak need to shape up a bit :p, but here's to another fun week of picks!!

    Picks

HW Championship: CHAMP Junior dos Santos vs. Frank Mir
My heart is with Mir here though.
    Cain Velasquez vs. Antonio Silva
Surprised I saw Keeper picked Big Foot...And scared now :(
    Roy Nelson vs. Dave Herman
Not a big fan of roy but I think the UFC knows it's time he wins.
Stipe Miočić vs. Shane del Rosario
I could see Stipe winning this, just picking Rosario because of the Name factor.
    Stefan Struve vs. Lavar Johnson
Probably my dumbest pick. Like Pat Barry Stefan may be to overwhelmed standing to even get it to the ground. THEN again, Barry mounted Lavar, if Stefan had that opportunity he would fair far better.

I could see many arguments being made for Frank Mir. If he were to beat Junior, one would have to believe it would be by Submission. (I didn't pick that fight in the POLL because I believe Frank is getting dropped but the point above remains.)

Roy Nelson has an underrated Ground game and may look to use his wrestling against Herman, eventually leading to a Sub. I could see that happening, maybe starting 4 minutes standing with Dave, then shoot for a Takedown to change the flow of things.

Cain vs Bigfoot, Cain is a wrestler, and though he is strong as hell and would be hard to catch in anything, Bigfoot would probably be the most decorated fighter off his back Velasquez has faced in his short, storied career.

I could keep making cases, I could make cases for each of these fights having KO of the night to, just have fun with it and think outside the box man

as you stated mir is getting dropped.

roy's ground game is not that great he just lays on guys.

cain's best ground game opponent was nog who he demolished. even lesnar couldnt hold him down for more than 5 seconds

you obviously didnt see i said Antonio would be the one ON HIS BACK, aka BIGFOOT would be taken down by cain then have a chance. Herman isn't a stud on the ground either, so Roy has a chance, he beat Frank Mir in a Jiu Jitsu expo time ago.

yea i kno he beat mir a long time ago. im not one for bringing up things longer than 3 years ago in MMA because i feel it has no merit

i see what u mean on the back. ive never seen cain accept going to the ground. he has a special talent to hold people down and pound of them. i think big foot is being hyped up, he got ko'd last fight, he beats a couple of old fighters and now i should accept he is the best stand up and ground fighter in the hw division (his trainers words not ours) bullshit in my opinion

i dont see whats funny at all.

did u see the fight??? mir clearly had an advantage in grappling and even threw the gigantic roy in the air for a judo throw.

mma is STILL an evolving sport and mentioning a grappling event that happened in 2003 nine yearsssss ago has no merit in 2012 if your attempting to compare abilities.

its 2003 frank was like 23 and 5-1 in his mma career. now he is a veteran UFC fighter as is nelson. comparing their skills from 9 years ago is not relevant. and you know that lungzz. fuck what the ufc did to try and hype that fight up mir is exceptionally better on the ground
