Last time research did fuck all so here we go:

Benson Henderson vs. Gilbert Melendez - for lightweight title
Benson is the real deal @ LW.
I didn't believe the hype at first, but his size sold the deal to me.

    Daniel Cormier vs. Frank Mir
Man if Frank wins tonight i'm going to be pinching myself.
Daniel is a beast though and his win over Barnett said a lot to me.

    Nate Diaz vs. Josh Thomson
    Josh is a beast.
    Matt Brown vs. Jordan Mein

    Whaddup.

Benson wins this fight, even though he's big enough to be fighting at 185. Yall know I hate weight cutters.

Cromier takes Mir. I think that we'll see Mir do decent in the kickboxing department until Cormier gets close enough to punch Mir. I think Mir's kickboxing is underrated, and he will be more of a threat there than many people think he will.

Idk if Cormier actually trains with Vasquez, the UFC HW Champ. If he does? He should have an easier time with Mir. If not? Mir isn't exactly chump change, so it will take Cormier a bit. But I think Cormier's superior quickness, athleticism, and Olympic pedigree wins this fight.

Idc who wins between Diaz and Josh... I think that they should continue their prior history of providing us all with a entertaining fight when they fight each other.

Idc about Brown and Mein, either.

    but with that said?

    ^^^That sums it up.

Shit I knew I should have picked with my brain on the main event (which I thought Gil edged out anyway)

I honestly think that Smooth beat Melendez. I think that Smooth picked it up from the 2nd round forward [ I gave the first to Melendez, gave 2nd-4th to Smooth, 5th tied ] and Melendez began to tire.

I think that Smooth showcased a more complete, more consistent attack, and I think that Smooth's defense was undervalued in this fight. I think that Smooth slipped and blocked most of Melendez's strikes. Melendez is a very good fighter, but Smooth is better.

I also think a rematch is in order.

To me, the biggest surprise of the name fights was...DIAZ simply didn't learn from his last fight. DIAZ most definitely needs to repurpose his standup game into a K-1 kickboxing...which is boxing oriented kickboxing...MMA hybrid. He needs to kick alot more, showcase better kicking defense, better leg check defense, and take it from there.

Josh simply lifted Smooth's blueprint on how to defeat the Stockton Scrap Pack Style and executed it faithfully.

I thought Gil clearly had 1 and 5 and Ben had 3 and 4......2 was razor close.

Fair enough. But I tilted 2 towards Ben, and I thought it was a clear but close tilt.

Like I said, I saw it the other way.....but I'm not too upset with the decision...it was a very even fight......can't say I care for Bendo's attitude.

I thought Smooth showed tremendous composure, even while the crowd showed zero class and boo'd as he proposed to his girl in the cage after the fight and she accepted. I thought Smooth showed tremendous class by giving the whole Scrap Pack props even as the Strikeforce crowd continued to boo him nonstop.

I think Smooth showed a champion's confidence, and a genuine martial artist's composure, class and excellent character.
