it is a trait newby's cry about, and then get tired of crying about, because the ignorance remains.. that doesn't mean that, it's not real.. that just means, artist's either moved on, or they realized what it was and adapted their techniques to appeal to the small crowd here on RM..

While that too is sensible, that is NOT what I'm thinking.I've been in hundreds of battles.I won most, lost a few.S'cool.What I'm talking about is a related but BIGGER topic...LYRICISM and VOTES INFORMED BY THE 15 CATEGORIES THAT COMPRISE LYRICISM.I didn't make those categories up;they're older than everyone in this century, last century, the century before etc. It's as old as poetry and music.Poetry+music=lyricism.There ya are. Those who don't know? That's cool but when discussions center on these matters, their ignorance gets exposed. The mature thing to do is to alleviate our ignorance by learning. We're here to have fun and learn more about our craft at the same time.So let's do that.

interesting point you brought up l.pree "artist adapt to the standards of RM" some times I think that the standard is low, set by some champ that uses a formula of 'just getting by" or some other set of mediocre flairs over looked by the complete skill set of writing. In the end, its writing.

For example, and going on now in the RSTL. One will write a story like this and in this format strictly:

Word word word word word word word rhyme
word word word word word word word rhyme

sally did this and felt this and rhyme
bill reacted this way and did this and rhyme

Nuts. Elements of writing are lost and what is more, it's encouraged as KILLING IT!!!

    you're still a newbie

Deth, i guarantee every text battle site thats been around more than a few years will vote the same way. having dope rhymes is cool and all, if you can incorporate it as part of your verse more power to you, but if you let it dictate your verse, and base your punches around your rhyme schemes you're going to lose. want to be judged for your lyricism, go drop in the open mic. this is battling. you need to insult the motherfucker

Interesting point indeed there coup.. unfourtunatly i'd hate to break it to you guys but that "Adapt to our styles" thing acctually takes place depending on what board you go to...

For instance on RB.com They don't care about punchlines as much as they do Personals & multis.. on UL.com its ALL about punchlines all else is secondary & if you drop some shit people have heard before forget about it, they'll laugh you off the site like they did Ion Metatron lmaoooo... On WL it was STRICTLY about Multi's & vocab.. punchlines were not on the menu at all...

I suppose in short it depends on what site your on... here on RM the most popular Voters pref is Punchlines, Personals, Multi's then Vocab... Ehh..

I'm bored of the subject really...

Jin's album Never went gold BTW smh...

Cool. Except in your last battle half your bars were structured so badly they didn't rhyme or just straight didn't rhyme, and you ignored the line limits too try and win like a bitch by nerding up 200 bars. I'm a newbie and beat you twice in a week, so quite obviesly you are man. Sort out the structure, it'sfucking anoying.

And please stop arguing over what lyrascism is (BTW Deth, lyrascism isn't centurys old, that would mean hundreds if years and you included multis, which are only used in rap), because it means nothing. If I think a verse is good, I'm not going to vote against it based on a point system somebody thought up.

Good point.I made that point a few months ago in one of my battles. But see? The LYRICAL MC can ADAPT ALOT FASTER than only the 'specialist rapper' under those circumstances. If the 'specialist rapper' focuse only on say "punchlines" and goes to say WL where it's multi's and vocab? The 'punchline rapper' is in deep doodoo. However,THE LYRICIST will simply emphasize the aspect of his/her/their arsenal that fits with the tastes of that site. It's what I've done here...but the problem is? If each site were LYRICAL,then we'd IMPROVE OUR LYRICAL GAME AS A WHOLE.That should be the goal.

Multis are not only used in rap.Multis is short for "multisyllable" and there are MANY examples of that in poetry HUNDREDS and even THOUSANDS of years old.You just gotta step your literature game up.And I'm not "arguing".If someone says your hand is NOT part of your body and you say it is? You're not ARGUING you're CORRECTING.Cuz you're RIGHT.In this case,my opinion happens to reflect the facts of lyricism.I'd be happy to leave links and other concrete data to make my point in each of these areas.

The definition of lyricism, for the purposes of discussion,is ESSENTIAL.It's the heart and core of the disagreement.Posters have stated that punchlines are different from lyricism when they mean punchlines are different from RHYME SCHEME.They are literally ignorant of what functional lyricism IS,and thus we have the disagreement.Lyricism includes all things lyrical, from rap to poetry to songs.By definition. And there ya are.I don't think you should vote on a point system if you don't want to,and I don't recommend a point system anyway.Lololol.Not here on this site for these matters. The idea I would endorse for this site would be lighting fast and simple.Probably COPY AND PASTE easy and quick. For real.

Insults=disses=punchlines=part of LYRICISM.You just made my point. You're of the opinion that I allow my rhyme scheme to dictate my punches.I don't.Since I'm the only one who writes my rhymes and knows what methods I use, you'd be in a very poor position to factually argue to the contrary. If that's your OPINION? That's cool man no prob. But the FACT is that I don't.And that's cool too.

Awright bruthas let's drop it.We've made our positions clear.Let's get back to battling.GL to all of you.
