Damn y'all put in work. I just memorize my shit...I never really record nothin I just keep bars in my head and just recite em in my head til it's second nature. My first battle I'm taking as a learning experience but I think as long as I have about a week to just focus on spittin what I memorized I can't see myself choking.

Well, also, H20, keep in mind that I usually don't do any of this until the week of the battle or the day before. But yeah, it's something people paid to see, so I'm not disappointing them if I can help it.

i don't record anything...i just recite the verses throughout the whole damn days prior to the battle really..

in the shower, on the drive to work, at work, on the way home from work, you get the picture.. at the event, outside the event, blah blah blah..

Do you incorporate crowd reaction in your material when practicing (You know the line is dope and the crowd is gonna be wild so you practice your 'Hold it downs!')?

300 bars in a month is too much for me to fathom..

I used to cringe at writing fucking 48 bars in a month for shit i'd read off a screen, 300 bars, Memorized in a month?

    thats a lifestyle holmes.

My crew would record and release a new song every two weeks on the blogs for eight months. I am conditioned.

i like the direction this thread went actually.

soul khan -- what was it like memorizing and preparing for three 3-minute rounds for your smack battle? how long did it take you until you had all that shit down perfectly clean? were your verses all 48 bars?

also, as for me, I have been reording my verses lately and listening to them through headphones, while simultaneously reading the text. it takes me a couple days to really get everything perfect, then of course i go through the material at full volume. I stand up and yell at my wall, mirror, and roommate.

I dunno how u could memorize it if u did t record. I can record a song. And memorize that shit within a day or two. Couldn't imagine memorizing just lyrics with no beat.

i dont know alot of times i wil have the verse memorized before i record it... it usually comes out better that way... usually 1 or 2 takes... no punchins.... if i were to do gt.. wich i mite eventually do... i dont think i would write to a beat tho.. so recording to a beat would be out of the question... by doing that ur limiting urself to the things u can do.. tempo wise and structure wise... i would try to experiment with alot of different schemes and tempos rather then sound robotic like thesaurus and alot of other gt rappers
