...because the person standing in line before me filled the car up then realized they had nothing to pay with. :/

Luckily the 2nd register got opened and it was all sunshine after that.

Not sure what's worse; people fleaing the gas station without paying or going up to the personel thinking they'll magically get it gratis?

I haz had such an annoyed that actually thought of suggesting to the clerk something along the lines; why not grab a hose and pump it out.

If this continues I'm certain we'll have to pay before being able to pump as well.

well the first situation they thought i did it on purpose, was asked to leave collateral while i went and got my wallet. I didnt have anything worth anything on me theyd consider collateral. They ended up trusting me, i went home got my wallet, and paid.

second situation i said it was their fault for not warning customers their debit machine was broke. Told them they were a bunch of dummies for not foreseeing that situation... came back later that day with cash

The clerk asked the guy who was having issues if he could leave any form of personal ID, otherwise he couldn't exactly let him go ~ because there's always a small chance that a person might not return to pay otherwise.

Sometimes taking a chance can turn out good, though.

There's been a few gas stations around here that are refusing to take any type of plastic and prefer cash only (omw, agip) ~ if not they get extremely grumpy. Hence I never use their services.
