and elways could throw it further than marino, and elway was able to throw on the run and throw it just as far...

not to mention he was drafted higher than anyone out of college and he was highly recruited out of college

Maybe you're significantly other than me but how the fuck do you compare guys you've actually seen play with guys you haven't except for a highlight or two and a bunch of stats from a completely different era. I acknowledged Unitas because he always gets talk of being one of the best but I'm not gonna him or those lesser old schools guys in the top 5 off strictly 'word of mouth'.

    ...and 4 SB titles

    ...and 3 SB MVP's

...and his 92 yard TD drive to win SB XXIII (better than Elway's drive)

YOU remember him for "The Catch" only, just like every fairweather football fan on earth.

See you're all over the place, this is what I meant earlier. You say Unitas only has 1 SB so he doesn't belong yet Favre has 1 SB (compared to Montana's 4 and Young's 3) and you think this dude is the 2nd best QB of all time?

    SB titles > individual records.

Yeah, but Montana's most famous drives were in the Playoffs and the Super Bowl. I think that kinda ranks higher.

And as far as being able to run and throw the ball so could this nigga

But Elway arm wasn't as good as Marino's I'm sorry cuzin, I don't see it.

naw, im just throwing that out there for fact. he already isnt up there like that and on top of that he has one superbowl

and individual shit matters more than superbowls....so barry sanders?

and wtf its football. it isnt a sport like basketball where one man can carry you. its WAY WAY WAY to unpredictable. you should at least reach one superbowl if your a QB. its whoever moves the ball down the field for points the most, you cant decide who is the best for every situation like that.

some people are blessed to be on a team like that.

well brady, bradshaw, aikmen and starr all have multiple superbowls but none of the is top 10. at least not starr or brady

and what about back to back suoperbowls? that should be even harder especially when you wasnt already on a dynasty.

think about it...elway is the best ever to pick up the football and throw it

marino vs elway in who could throw it further

    elway would smash him

only favre could touch him in arm strength

and running and throw ACCURATE. elway was better than cunningham in college dog....

elways feet + arm x brain + will to win = best ever

It's more impressive being a 3rd round pick and having a GREAT career than being a 1st overall pick and having a GREAT career. Elway was suppose to be GREAT, Montana wasn't that's what makes him special (same with Brady vs. Manning).

Also Elway got drafted by the Colts by cried about it and got traded to the Broncos. There's 2 teams for ya if you wanna add the ridiculous "he played for 1 team only so that means something argument".

As far as Montana having Rice, if John Elway didn't have Terrell Davis he wouldn't have won a SB. In fact looking at the numbers 4 of Elway's best statistical years came after Terrell Davis got there. So if you're gonna penalize Montana for having Jerry Rice do they same for Elway having Davis.

Plenty of people have statues all over the place. Karl Malone has one in Utah, Vince Carter has one outside his HS....who cares.

    manning > brady all day

    statues matter though

i mean you guys are arguing montana is better than elway, but i got favre above him too...first try and get him above favre cause he isnt...its immpossible

and favre is automatically better than elway

you also got to take into account age and if the QBs played at the same time at any point

elway had no one when he was winning all those games for the broncos. and TD got there late as hell in his career it was about time they got him someone...shannon sharpe was good too.

If that's the case where's Troy Aikman on your list? You're not being consistent on your criteria and each time you change it to boost one guy's profile you leave out another who's done the same thing.

college matters but are we not talking about all levels?

they were only good at college

john was insane at all levels...case closed

i know more about football then anyone on this site cause i just treated everyone in the sports forum.....

college matters but top 5 list, if your only good at college why would it matter

you obviously dont under stand the topic of BEST EVER

so them old school fools or the college kids, they arent the best cause they didnt or couldnt succeed at the current level of football

everything pas 1970 is modern day football. you cant be top 5 id your before then.

elway has a overall quarter back is the best

    favre is second

    montana

    marino

    young/manning

    btw eric crouch is sick...

you might as well put doug flutie on that list. even tho he is top 15

We was joking bout the college QB's. What happened in college don't mean shit in this argument.

And these kinds of lists are always opinion driven....your opinion happens to be extremely wrong and inconsistent though. It's whatever though
