I have a degree in Radio broadcast which is my main focus right now. Radio I guess you could say is more of my focus but I still love music. I gotta pay the bills tho and it sucks kuz my radio job is only part time on the weekends on I had to take a fulltime job on the weekends to make ends meet. Im lookin for something else so that way I have more time on the weekend and the station Im working with is really flexible. Theyre small and family owned and told me they understand I gotta make ends meet and Ill always have a home there. So right now Im workin this job Thursday - Sunday and tryin to get this music thing goin locally for some extra dough and lookin for a new job. God willin by 2008 Ill be able to live off of just music and radio that would be the shit.

I have a 8-5 in an industry loosely related to what I went to school for, pays decent, enough to save money. The only way I can see myself doing music is if I sacrifice things such as having a family. Right now when I come home its FM Productions from 6pm-1am and that shit is real tough on my girl who I live with cause its like damn when do we have time to chill and shit. I know my life would be a lot easier if I didnt do music but at the same time, in my heart I know Im not mean to work for someone else's dream and pursue someone else's passion for the next 25 years in this company. Its a hard thing to live with, but I cant ever turn my back on this shit.

^ I can definitely say that her faith in the relationship falters cause Im not a regular nigga, I got a real job, and I have a real goal in this music shit, and I got too much faith in my own music to fuck it off over a nonsupportive female. Once I got my first demo in the Motif ES Rack, that shit made me get way too focused cause it materialized the whole idea of doing this shit for real. A regular nigga...yeah he might work a 9-5 but when he comes home his grind is over, for my niggaz thats serious about this shit, it never ends. Im sure she thinks Im cheating on her and shit cause I been spending whole weekends away locked up in studios in LA, sleeping in fuckin studio, then Im gone all week putting in my debt peonage.

im in my last semester of school and i seriously have no idea wat i want to do...im gonna have my mass communications degree so its pretty much applicable to anytrhing even remotely related to media..its nto GETTING a job/career im concerned about..its WHICH ONE..which road to i wanan go down..??...i still do the music full time..and its paid enough the last 2 years for me not to have a " regular" job for now...i live at at home but pay half the mortage and half the other bills to help my moms out of a bind...and im only 21..so i had to grow up mad quick...BUT this music thing is lookin like it might pay off..but its not a matter of " if" for me anymore..ITS WHEN...its a waiting game man...u really gotta have some patience in this game cuz shit may nto happen over night...and like soemone said earlier..i think it was frost..production is just ONE Aspect of the music biz...most peopel forget that these lables have creative divisions and regualr buisness divisions..which means they need producers as much as they need an intergrated ad agency or marketing executives or distribution chain agents...its a giant machine with plenty of diff spots that need to be filled to run properly..i was talkin to a cat that works with ASCAP ..and every year hes suprised at howmany cats dont even THINK to applay for a job as a ASCAP account manager or as an PRO agent...etc ao they jobs are there...u gotta look beyond just creating music sometimes and look at the bigger picture...

and anyone thinking of going to full sail...i highly recommend talking to former students to decide if its right for you...ive personally seen that school ruin or taint the lives of many of my friends and really held them back...its not for eveyone...and to be honest that degree they give u is really useless..the engineering field is so oversaturated its mind boggling..so really really do some research b4 u decide to invest that much money into a 18 month degree...

Man, I would've told her ass off with the quickness. But I would love to have me a singer chick tho. I would experiment with that chick so much. In the studio and in the bedroom lol

i didnt even make a beat till my junior year in college, so I didnt even think I could get anywhere with this till right before graduation back in May. I grind a 9 to 5 as an IT specialist, the beats i spend my free time on, so Im good if the industry dont work out. im at the point where I got the skills, it's all about the business, no point jumping at the first deal and ending up making the same or less than what I do now.

aight man... imma put it like this. we ALL got dreams but sooner or later gotta wake up. do you wanna wake up with a battery powered casio in front of A&J's Liquor hitting A minor chords? or wake up young and get ya shit together now. i see producing as a hustle. ima hustler. any means to get money. of course i love muisic yadadada. but sellin beats is wat i do. as for career i DEF got a career job over here at Pepsi. but i do everything to get cake. thats just me. but pursuing music and fucking off realistic careers is where im at with it. i aint knockin no one tho for real. do what you do.

    2. FMAJOR WHERE YOU AT NIGGA!!! i left you like 2 messages. they waitin on that beat tracked out.... im tryna get this cake. get at me ASAPPPPPPP

i might not meet the requirements for the thread

i dont live on my own
but i do pay bills, an most the time im the only person bringing money into this house
and i am gettin my mother a house ina very short while

but im expericenced with a bunch of shit so if music doesent work out

i do automotive repair (paint and body)
    roofing
    and even landscaping

so worst case scenario im not gonna be jobless
but i devote most if not all my time to music. and that hard work is payin off now.
so ima focus on this for now.
