About a year and a half ago, I conducted a large survey, and with the results, I made a list of the top 100 west coast songs of all time. About 50-60 people, mainly from a west coast board I post on, took the survey and nominated 20 or more songs each, and I used a grading scale to calculate the worth of each song and how to put them on the list. I did not put any bias into it at all, and my votes counted just as much as everyone else's. I posted it on that website in February 2004, so that's why it is missing some songs that might have made the list since then, such as Drop it like it's hot, and anything from Game. I just wanted to post it on here since I didn't post it here when I created it. You can discuss it, debate it, or whatever else, just remember it wasn't based on my opinion. The most interesting thing about it to me is that it shows how west coast rap fans have different opinions of what songs were classic versus how many people who aren't as big of west coast fans may usually think.

A lot of people said the same thing, but you gotta look at it this way. Most of those songs on that list were released as singles. Ras Kass definitely got nominated about 8-10 times, but unlike many artists, most people nominated completely different songs from him, because he doesn't have just 1 or 2 stand out songs, and he never had any big singles. Also, I always say Ras Kass lyrics are much better than his actual songs are, and his songs don't really tell how good he is, you just gotta hear a grip of material and concepts from him to realize how dope he is. So just because he's not on the list doesn't mean the people voting were sleepin on Ras or whatever, I personally didn't nominate any of his songs because I just don't think any of them are my favorite songs overall, but I'd definitely nominate him for like a top ten artist on the west or even the nation.

That's funny...because most of the people who voted in this aren't even from LA. Many songs nominated between 100 and 200 were Bay, and they suffered from the same thing that Ras Kass did...the fact that most of them didn't have big songs, and that their fans ended up havin different songs that were favorite. LA had the most radio play and hits, so of course a top 100 list will consist of mainly LA songs, that's expected. It had nothing to do with the fact that people were biased towards LA...even people from the Bay voted on the same LA songs, but they would all have diff favorites from people like Celly Cell, San Quinn, and even Too Short and 40.

its your list so i could care less really.. u mentioned LA had the most radio play/hits but is that really new? the bay/valley is on that independent shit so of course your not gonna hear them on the radio..

i mean thats the only way Worst comes to worst makes the list as the best non gangsta rap song from here.. 93 til infinity anybody??? shit del > anything dialted has done..

Don't make BET make a top 50 or 100 list for the west coast. They will put rappers from different region to rep yall and shit like they did the south.

    Seriously good list.
