It's not a victory if it subverts the 2nd Amendment, which is an inalienable right to own guns. Now you can own guns, but only as long as the state says you can own them. It's no longer an inalienable right, but a right granted by the state which can also take that right away whenever they choose. So I don't consider this to be a victory at all. The media acts like it is, but that is of course their usual spin and to be expected. I was saying they would do this before the ruling was even made.

This ruling states that civilians can own firearms for "personal protection" or "self defense". Which means whatever "they" decide fits that description is what you can legally own. They could easily say that civilians can "only" own weapons for self defense, and limit how many firearms you own and what type. They may eventually narrow it down to: two shot shotguns, bolt action rifles, and low caliber revolvers. The problem is, when tyrannical governments take over, they first seek to disarm their populations to suppress any resistance to the new rule of law. Which means if we were ever attacked by an enemy, foreign or domestic, we would have only basic firearms with limited range and capacity.

On the flip side, if they just left us the fuck alone, and kept the AR-15 in my closet out of this, then there wouldn't be any problems. In fact armed societies have less crime and little overt corruption in government.

The second amendment states that we have the right to "bare" arms. Bare meaning, to show or brandish. This means that back then, to bare arms meant to wear your weapon on your belt. Only assassins and criminals made attempts at concealing weapons. So if you were found concealing a weapon you were arrested!

In societies throughout history that "bare" weapons have VERY LITTLE crime. Who wants to act a fool when everybodys packin? Nobody.

It's a common misconception that in the wild west days people just shot it out in the street. Although that did happen, it typically took place in towns run by "mobs" with little or no police presence (a town sheriff). In places with law and order; a judge, a court house, a sheriff with deputies, and an armed citizenship there was little, if any crime.

I believe that it's Switzerland that has the best gun policy. Every abled body male is required to serve in the military, and when they are discharged they take their assault rifle home with them! It's not uncommon to see someone riding to work on their bike with an assault rifle slung over their shoulder.

    Conclusion:

When citizens have guns there is less crime.
When citizens are disarmed, they are either slaughtered by their own government or the criminals get all the goodies on the black market and run shit. Look at places like D.C where they just lifted the gun ban. Why do you think they have so much crime? Because they banned handguns. The fact is since the ban the crime in D.C actually INCREASED as it did in Chicago, and NY, and everywhere else that pull that bull shit.

Check out the book Lesson from Lithuania. It's a history of governments disarming population to slaughter them, eventually.

having or not having a right to own guns don't make a difference to a criminal. a criminal breaks the law, no matter what the law states. if civillians do not have the right to own guns, that leaves the only ppl willing to break the law (crims) access to guns. so in the end one side - the innocent civillians (no guns) vs the criminals (have guns). it's a catch 22 ...

Yeah, because calling someones argument idiotic because a gun is one of the most efficient weapons isn't common knowledge. Never mind, That is one of the purposes of a gun, captain obvious.

which brings me back to my point...

If you ban guns criminals are still going to get guns on the black market.
You would rather have criminals with guns while law abiding citizens have to make do with less efficient weaponry or none at all.

You're also missing the point even if you out law guns never minding the fact criminals are going to attain guns on the black market, another weapon will be used to kill people becoming the new efficient weapon. So your logic would follow to ban this new efficient weapon.

A gun being more efficient is the added advantage against a criminal. Guns are the best equalizer, captain obvious!

ask yourself why guns are so readily available in the first place. the "black market" has such high availability of guns as a direct result of spill over from the absurd mass production of guns. producing millions of guns for legal "law-abiding" usage (mind you, guns are invented for killing: this is their single and only purpose) has made guns more loosely available as a whole and thus more accessible to obtain illegally.

the very idea that guns ought to be so accessible is what has opened the door for all of this. they have created their own criminals. now they must walk around in fear in this world they have created.

gun control doesnt seem to do much when it comes down to stopping violent crime... our nation's capital has very strict anti-gun policies and still a dangerous fucking place to go

so if we can rule that banning guns is somewhat inneffective it should come down to what good reason is there to take away yet another personal liberty?

and true the large pressence of guns on the black market is supplied by legal firearms that were stolen, however even if you were to take away that supply of guns i think it's a safe assumption that criminals would just have to find a new medium to supply the gun market, such as smuggling or what have you. violence is more than just an inconvenience in this country, it's an industry, and if the illegal drug trade has taught us anything it's that if there is a demand there will be a supply. at a price of course

No that applies to you, faggot!

    LMAO@ created their own criminals.

Wrong, people create themselves into criminals by breaking the law it doesn't matter what weapon they choose to use to do their criminal activity with it is their fault not the weapons. As can be seen with law-abiding citizens who carry guns but do not break the law with them. It's not fear it's protection. When you have a gun you don't fear, when you don't have a gun and criminals do you fear.

So basically your point is to make a hindsight fallacy inorder to blame man for creating the gun for protection purposes which can also fall into the wrong hands of criminals? That still doesn't slove the problem about guns on the black market today, Nor does it stop a criminal from being a killer. A criminal is going to get a gun whether we out law guns or not. Guns are easy to come by in the underworld, where there is demand there is a buyer. You're blaming man for creating a weapon that kills. We understand that's what a gun can do dumb shit, but we also understand it's not their only purpose and that guns do exist and taking guns away from us isn't going to take out the black market and keep a criminal from getting a gun from it so he/she can over power us on a unequal playing field.

That is not the guns only purpose you lying piece of shit. It can be used recreationally and there are such things as gun collectors as well.

Plus, it's a great weapon to hunt for food with.

at this stage any form of gun control is very useless. Guns are simply too common to be regulated in any form.

    The problem began there.

Ideally gun control would be at its most effective if guns were rare and hard to come by for the general population, making the guns that do surface illegally high priced commodities. this eliminates the petty criminal; the main player among gun related crime.

but this scenario is impossible - at least now. guns are so common that if anyone really wanted one it wouldn't take them long to get one...the power to destroy life in a whim.

yea, but you really can't stop technology from advancing, and that's what guns (especially being mass produced) are a biproduct of. eventually somebody was going to invent the firearm, eventually somebody will invent something better. the government can't ensure your right not to be shot or harmed so the least they can do is allow you the means to protect yourself
