its the same story as the 80's and early 90's with big east basketball

u want conference dominance, u gotta pay the players. simple as that.

u think patrick ewing wanted to go georgetown? yeah right.

There's dirty money running through every major winning program just about.

But I think the NCAA has cracked down on that, quite a bit... it's not like the '70s and '80s.

But you can't have it both ways, Seeson... you can't say it's the weather and coaching and then say it's the money.

Here's a caveat, though... the best coaches (Saban and Meyer) in the SEC are from the mid-west... but they get the best talent from the south.

See, a couple of generations ago, the Big Ten dominated... why? Because racist southern schools didn't want black athletes... and so they went up north... now, everybody's integrated and there has been a migration back down south for black people, which further contributes to the talent rich pool.

There aren't too many cats raised in FL, SC and GA who want to go to Michigan and freeze their asses off for 6-8 months.

But the Big Ten dominates in basketball currently... so there's your trade-off... you got basketball and lacrosse and hockey... let us have football and baseball and track.

you guys are dumb if you think SEC is the only conference doing it. Plus, southern football is no joke. They play all year long chasing rabbits and shit.

To be honest the SEC is God's gift to us all hate it or love it. I have a feeling every major school is giving out benefits though...they just try not to be as flagrant as USC with Reggie Bush. When Darren McFadden was riding around in a car with 26 inch rims you can bet he didn't work during the offseason to buy the car or the rims.

Ryan Mallett recently talked about "working" during the offseason as well. A booster gave him a job where he essentially comes in and sleeps.

The South just has better athletes. Simple as that. Up North/Out West are better coaches but no doubt the best athletes are coming from the South.

Michigan is still recovering from that App. St. loss in '07, tbh... that loss set them back mentally for 3 years... wow.

OSU is overrated every year... they start 6-0 because they play cream puffs and then when they hit real competition, they start losing.

You guys got Mich. St., Wisconsin, and sometimes Iowa... that's it.

Big 10 is running basketball... be proud of that.

The biggest difference is the expansion of media coverage. Notre Dame used to bait 5 star recruits from everywhere in the country because they would get to be on TV every single Saturday. These days almost every team gets TV time and they would rather stay closer to home.
