... the depressing thought of nothing being permanent.

if somebody asked me why i believe in a god, a creator? that'd be my answer.

i guess it's a cop out on my part and any other person who believes in an afterlife.

as malo summed it up while ago, it's a consoling mechanism for while i am on this planet.

    i don't even.

How about our overriding urge for justice

our need for worship and praise

    our desire to express love

our longing for a better country

our need for purpose and reason

our awe and respect for the gradure of the universe were a part of
and to the one that created it.

    the greatness of life

    the mystery of eternal laws

our spirits that cry out for him

our longing to be with him

our knowing that there is something else.

    just to name a few.

what do you mean "our". your needs are not the same as mine.

longing for a better country? what does that have to do with my faith?

    i'd be a liar if i said i didn't fear death.

but it's not dying that scares me, it's the nothingness that will follow.

i'd like to believe there is a place where the evil get punished and the good rewarded.

so mortality is the main issue i fight with on a daily just as every other human being.

but i want to hold onto something permanent, something infinite, something superior.

I meant what I said. Our.
collectively we would like to see people punished and rewarded for their
actions in this life. am i wrong?

heb 11:16Instead, they were longing for a better country--a heavenly one. Therefore God is not ashamed to be called their God, for he has prepared a city for them.
