How can agency/self-awareness/intelligence emerge from completely blind processies?

We're composed of the same basic stuff of the universe...

How can we possess certain loftier qualities that aren't already contained in the very universe which spawned us?

    Also...

This is why I can't completely rule out the idea of an anthropomorphized/emotional god and moral cosmology.

Perhaps evolution is just god via man progressing towards himself. A sort of eternal dance/cycle.

i think that evolution covers this question, honestly. the factors that drive it are about as blind as you can get. it is counter intuitive, though.

i suppose we need an understanding of how life first arose before we can really talk about how agency itself first emerged, but there are at least rational models for how something like that could happen.

that's not to say i do completely dismiss the idea of god. never know.

check out the book "shantaram" its beautifully written and isnt about god per se, but the main protagonist discusses the topic throughout the book and is a spiritual journey. Touches on what you just said here.
