Seriously, Tracy McGrady has some of the most natural, God-given talent the game has ever seen.

For NBA fans to not be able to fully enjoy him at his best is an absolute tragedy of epic proportions.

As one notable observer put it: "He is the smoothest player I have ever watched. He's like that guy at the gym who you know is better than everyone else but is just toying with everyone by coasting. Except he does it in the NBA."

All he needed was the right coach to guide him past that "gym-pimp" phase of his and that one extra piece alongside him to get him what he was destined to have... an NBA Championship.

He got them both in Jeff Van Gundy and the burgeoning giant that is Yao Ming. It's too bad that his 2000-03 athletic explosiveness couldn't come along for the ride.

David Stern should designate a week of mourning for T-Mac's plight by having every team in the league wear all-black shadow jerseys like the one seen below:

When all players wear this jersey in their games, it will symbolize how the game as a whole has been affected by T-Mac's struggles... lost, in disarray, and not played to its full potential.

    R.I.P.

    :(

you speak this vitriolic garbage, because you are not a true nba fan at heart

everybody should miss t-mac and what he could have potentially brought this league in his prime... the same way grant hill's demise should be mourned... penny hardaway's... len bias'... bernard king's injury... etc.

stop tainting the purity of nba fandom by claiming to be a citizen of it

    please stop

it's not that he won't every play again, but he won't be able to fully exert himself

back problems like his usually never go away, and they can only get worse

Honestly I think he's suffering more from those personal issues than his back. I really don't think it's all that bad. I'll be damn if he turns into a Larry Johnson.
