^^^ i can respect those sample based producers who actually treat it like an art, and "compose" with choppin the samples up....i used to do that alot back in the day...and ive always been a big primo/gangstarr fan.

what i cant respect are those who take a 4 or 8 bar loop, speed it up, and throw some drums on it. then push it like its such a hot track and a testament to their skills. now don't get me wrong i've taken entire 4 or 8 bar loops before, im sure everybody has, but ya cant act like its a testament to your skill, because you basically just threw drums over somebody else's music...a monkey with no scruples could do that.

True But Some 4 Bars Will Do, If U Dont Want To Mess It Up, Like Ill Take A 4 Bar Then Ill Dig For Another Record And Hopefully Ill Find On That Sounds Nice, But In The Same Tune As The Loop So I Can Sample Mesh, So I Got A Loop And Then Maybe Some Chops That Are In The Same Tuning As The Loop So Its A Whole Other Sound. Kinda Like What Rjd2 Does. Sample Meshin Is Beautiful If You Have The Time To Do It. But I Understand The Just Loop And Drums That Is Unoriginal.

i just think, if u sample...it needs to have as much character as it would if it was composed

meaning, if normally u'd have ur own sound when u compose....your samples should reflect those same characteristics

bc alotta dudes will sample some shit and their identity (if they have one to begin with) is completely gone and their beat will sound simliar to every single flip done to the sample they used

thats a no-go in my book.

Funny cause to me this sounds like a composed track with a vocal sample. Wouldn't be suprised if it was a interpolation tho.. And forgot who made it but not a Blaze beat (who ever labeled it).

Yea wouldn't argue with that. Just the beat minus the vocal sample is composed (even if it is a interpolation). So I wouldn't really call that a sampled beat (in the traditional sense at least). The vocal? Yes? The beat? nope...

i wouldnt stop sampling all together ....

    but if u want money
    stop sampling.
if u cant play shit find some session players a keyboardist a guitarist

they cost alot less than a chaka khan sample.

Title of this thread should've been "Sample wisely"... even though I don't even sample.
