    Is so great NOW.
Fine, it changed hiphop then. But listen to it now, the shit is boring fucking garbage. Id rather listen to Nas Illmatic to Stillmatic remix album, then listen to fucking Illmatic.
The Dream said, its like an entire album of Nas song "Book of rhymes" and I cant agree more.

So someone plz explain why this album is so great now.

Saying, yo, dem beatz is hot and dem lyrics is dope will not suffice. Especially since the beats dont stand the test of time, and the lyrics really arent anything mindblowing to begin with.

Oh, and your all a bunch of dickriding mindless following faggots.

This shit has been argued to death...bring up the old thread if you still want to talk about it

I was only defending the album's classic status and how it's better than Doctor's Advocate

People on this board don't understand that, they only care about new shit and immediately think it's better than old albums...that's why everything these days is immediately labelled "classic"

And i never realized that something being great 10 years ago is no longer great today just because there are more advanced things out now. Hell people still drive cars from the 60s and 70s and those get a lot more respect than cars today.

Thx for proving my point. Not 1 legitimate answer. Just the typical, "everyone else says its a classic, so Ima hop on that bandwagon" responses. Unoriginal fucking queers.

i didn't see any such responses. I saw "i like it because I enjoy the beat/content/lyrics/etc"...

...which in the end should be the only thing that matters when it comes to listening to music.

i don't put any weight into ANYONE claiming an album is classic OR wack because, in the end, it's their judgement to make.

I can give my opinion. I can disagree with your or others' opinions. But my opinion is not any more valid than yours and vice versa.

I could go on and on about why I like this album, why Sir mix-a-lot's third album is a personal classic, or why I like Ice Cube's third full-length more than any other album that's ever been made.

claiming that all people who say Illmatic is a classic are dickriders is as elitist sounding as those who say every album that isn't Illmatic is wack...

his flow and beats on this album make it a classic. the lyrics are so descriptive that you can see the song in your head like "one love" you can picture whats going on so perfect.

I sip the Dom P, watchin Gandhi til I'm charged
Then writin in my book of rhymes, all the words pass the margin
To hold the mic I'm throbbin, mechanical movement
Understandable smooth shit that murderers move wit
The thief's theme, play me at night, they won't act right
The fiend of hip-hop has got me stuck like a crack pipe
The mind activation, react like I'm facin time like
Pappy Mason with pens I'm embracin
Wipe the sweat off my dome, spit the phlegm on the streets
Suede Timb's on my feets, makes my cypher, complete
Whether crusin in a six-cab, or Montero Jeep
I can't call it, the beats make me fallin asleep
I keep fallin, but never fallin six feet deep
