I thought Ratzinger/Benedict threw out purgatory as not existing (I could be wrong).
They definitely don't believe you can "BUY" your way out of anything.
They believe in it more by obligation many popes that have been asked
try an come up with some type of people pleasing response.
Google" indulgences" an look at the recent news in regaurds to that
in the catholic church
That would b a move in the right direction.
Can you actually illustrate how it works for me? If you can, I'd be glad to forfeit my statement. Just from a quick scan, I found that they say it isn't what I think you say it is - unless I'm wrong about what you're saying it is. Then I'd ask you to clarify what you mean.
CATHOLIC ENCYCLOPEDIA: Indulgences
Apparently it was limbo they got rid of; I would suppose they still have Purgatory then.
Here's another site detailing myths about indulgences.

but you know what? if god was real or atleast what we think we know about god was real, and what we did mattered on whether we get into heaven or not, someone in some sort of religious authority in the world would know. It would be fact and other higher ups would know. Like superpower governments. Well with the way they act going around doing dirty deals and setting up wars and shit, youd think they "knew" that there was no heaven. Or atleast that our sins on earth prevented us from going
cahtolic=christians.. christian's do not mean your catholic.. that is what I am aware of
Christian means follower of christ
not follower of a pope, or mary, or anyother saints,
Or fathers .
Its my understanding that an indulgence so aptly named
is a way of paying to the church a financial penant for sins.
and doing it apparently will reduce the work that one would need to do while in purgatory
sin however. is a legal and binding contract.
Because when u sin u sin against God..and Gods established a law.
Law. the eternal laws that govern the universe and everything in it.
Including heaven and God himself is bound to these laws.
the law that governs sin is death.
meaning something must die - blood must be shed.
to cover or attone for it. that is the only thing that fullfills that law.
when we get convicted of. crime on earth the judge
will either give u jail time (hell) or bail (sacrifice)
Now whether u pay or ur mom pays
if u pay the judge can legally set u free
and it fullfills that contract.
well its the same thing with cosmic law.
no amount of money in the world im this casr how ever
will sufice. the life that sins demands the sinners life.
or something greater-such as the life of a non sinner to redeem that life.
Catholicism is a denomination, hence a subset, of Christianity. All Catholics are Christians, but not all Christians are Catholics. A Christian refers to a follower of Jesus Christ who may be a Catholic, Protestant, Gnostic, Mormon, Evangelical, Anglican or Orthodox, or follower of another branch of the religion.
A Catholic refers to a Christian who follows the Catholic religion as transmitted through the succession of Popes of Rome and the Vatican Empire across history. The Pope is the leader of the Catholic church. The Catholic Church is the largest of the Christian Churches - about 60% of Christians are Catholic
