while camping's work is impressive, hard evidence seems to suggest we'll make it at least until the 2012 olympics before we see the return of the nephilim.. in space ships

Nature is known to exist. In order for a supernatural explanation to be potentially valid, we have to find a way to show that supernatural occurrences are real. If supernatural occurrences are real, we would still have to find out if it was even possible for everything to have come about supernaturally.

We already have a natural theory. You might say the Bible says God exists and God did it, but that isn't a scientific explanation. We can't begin to explain how everything could be created supernaturally through science because we don't know that "Supernature" exists.

true. But at what point do you declare that? Theres probably a million or more people that claim to be abducted by aliens, that could be seen as supernatural but until you get abducted yourself i dont think ud believe them. So it really depends many people have had or believe theyve hadsupernatural type sensations or experiences all throughout history but arent regaurded or researched as such but why.

being abducted by aliens is in no way supernatural. aliens, if they exist, are natural creatures of the universe just like us. supernatural would be seeing ghosts or something like that.

i'm not just nit picking here, i think it's really significant that you chose aliens as an example of the supernatural. realistically speaking... the claims that people were abducted by aliens are just as ridiculous and hard to believe as those who say they've seen a ghost. so its actually somewhat natural that you'd choose this example.

goes to show that our ideas of the 'supernatural' are merely whatever is foreign or mysterious to the human perception, that science has yet to validate... so if we were to discover something supernatural through science then it would then become natural in our eyes.

the reason that these claims about ghosts and aliens are never taken seriously is because they have no credibility to them, and are impossible to verify. not because of any arbitrary natural vs supernatural distinction.

this is the same reason that god is irrelevant in science class. its a philosophical query that doesn't bring any further understanding to the subject. it's certainly relevant if you're a philosopher.. just not if you're a physicist.
