I think people being too scared to read is why this story works.
lol fuck this shit. aint reading. nigga scared
I was slightly creeped out. Maybe if I had followed the instructions completely I would have enjoyed it even more.
ok so i think the whole lead up did more damage then actually reading it. i honestly didnt even do it the right way...its day time and i read it in the lounge haha but yeah if your gonna do this...do it the right way. youll get the full experience i guess.
anyone know of other shit like this? im keen to read some more..already checked out that mister b gone one someone mentioned.
I did it during the day (couldn't wait to read it) but closed all the windows/blinds, turned of the tele, laptop, lights. room wasn't pitch black but was dark and "dreary" enough. Only sounds where the hum of my fan. Right after I did the last instruction I waited a while before turning shit back on just to live in the mood it set for me. I jumped at every little sound that I normally wouldn't even notice.
You're right about if you're going to do this, do it the right way. Best if you're in your house alone. (couldn't even imagine if someone did this with the power out in your house alone at night)
ANY scary story effect is amplified when you set the mood like the way the story asked. door closed, lights off, by candle light.
scary movies too. make sure you're alone. doors closed, volume up (better if you have surround sound)
go read "N" or "the man in the black suit" by stephen king ,
"in the rundown" by joe hill,
"the tomb" or "the tree" by hp lovecraft
(or any short story by any of those 3 authors)
they're obviously much longer than "the magic" but pay off a lot more.
True but, I can read through any other horror stories I've read before with the exact same setting (and in fact I have for most of them) and not be as personally "scared" as this one. Other stories have been creepy but through the whole read I know it's just a story, this in the other hand felt more "personal" which was done real cleverly by the author.
But I'm going to check out the other stories you suggested right away
im looking for real pyschological horror types, stufff thats realistic/provocative..but i will definitely look into those...
haha yep looking back i think i could of handled it..doing it the right way but ahwell
That's actually how I found rapmusic, by searching "sleep paralysis" and finding some thread that had EG and Eyerate arguing haha.
I was expecting like:
"When I made the 5 year old girl cut the boys neck and pee in his wound, I knew that there was no going back..."
Wow that was terrible. I think the first five words of the last paragraph ruin any potential fear factor. Candyman was scarier.
Of course you are.
Nod your head
Cmon, nobodies watching. Just do it. I promise, you will feel something.
Now hold your breath and listen.
Do you hear me? Its me. Im here
real talk though
would you guys read it again right now? 2:30AM over here. Fuck no.
I'd read it at 3am in a haunted cemetery while sacrificing a baby, and I actually do get scared by some paranormal stuff. That did nothing for me tbh.
i donno im not easily scared tbh i love that shit but dunno why this got me shook. good buildup i guess..now im fiending for more of this
would you get a stiffy
Just did this, guess I was 20 years too late to be scared. Not religious so I had no qualms about the end, kinda feel like I was almost too open to this story and wanted to make sure I wasn't going into it like LOL THIS GONNA BE DUMB, then I overhyped it. For some reason while reading it, I imagined the author's voice was like when they read the chat logs on Dateline: To Catch a Predator.
Depends on how much the devil looks like Kyle Korver nohomo
I did do a slight "ohhhh shit" when I read "DEVIL". Still...eh.
