    1. Introduction

Alright. So it was obvious last week wasn’t our hottest week with 6 people no-showing and just about all of their opponents posting no-show verses. Voting wasn’t the best last week either. Remember, showing up and voting is what makes this league run smoothly. Vote as often as you can. If you get no-showed, still go out and vote! It’ll help the league tremendously so we don’t have only 3 or 4 people deciding one battle. Just show up and vote and the league will run smooth.

I’m going to put in an Alternate rule to increase activity and stop the lameness of no-shows. Just put “alternate” in your battle thread when you check in and if you get no-showed against you will be put up against either another opponent who posts up “alternate”, or against someone who is signing in for the following week who posts “alternate” under their sign-in. So be sure if you’re signing in and want to be an alternate that you have a verse ready to post up by the end of the week incase anyone does no-show and you are called on to battle.

I am also planning on getting the standings up officially by Wednesday. If you haven’t calculated out your points in the Standings thread then please do so.

I would also like to thank Nu’maaN for our new RSTL logo. Thanks for the contribution to the league.

We will also be short an interview this mag. I had one set up with Blitz and he had the questions answered but technical problems made him unable to send me his responses, so the interview will be missing this week and I apologize in advance for it. Anyways, let’s move on with the mag.

    2. Recap

In the three-way Championship Match L. Kross came out on top in a pretty diverse battle. Main Stream won the Contendership Match as Nu’maaN missed the deadline by 8 hours. Pain defeated liquid 2-1. WordZPerfect and –Fac3- tied and they have the tough task of battling again in a three-way match with Pain for the Contendership battle this week. I defeated Yung Troy and Link Gash overcame Shadow. Crimz, Atreyu, and Soull all won due to no-shows from dsp, Jersey_Emcee, and MADD ILL. And both Scatterboxx and KDP no-showed in their match. Let’s kick things into gear this week, fellas.

    Wasted Explanation
"Have you ever wanted to live in a Dream..
When reality isn't what it's intended to be...?
Drift in the stream, cant make a difference it seems
I wish I was free, how we meant it to initially be...."...

My pen'll leak timidly, the shakin' makes me figidy
Pivoting my positioning, Uneasy with remembering

"Looking back through my memory, I picture us vividly
With a magical chemistry, it's how we were meant to be...
Attracting instantly, Love spoke and we were listening
Must of been Fate I was in the place that you were visiting
    you left me speechless visually...
Personality real... far from one of those pretend-to-bes
Out came the inner-kid in me, Freed of what imprisoned me
..... Although eventually, everybody comes to miss these things
When the sympathy ceased, and we'd fight consistantly
Attacks would viciously sting, and with every bite, the misery
^^how the argument went typically, then silence stricken grief
you'd give me the 6th degree, to the point where it sickens me
attack and offend me, accusin me of what isn't me..
And If I said anything, the 'PenAltY' was intense to see...
Listen we've drifted an due to the wasted dedication i've given
I think that its now my decision, to have our relationship ended..
    I'm sorry bu........."

Startled by a sound that shot me like an adrenaline shock...
I realized that Im a victim of these twisted symptoms I've got..

"t...You and I are finished, change my mind?, forget it
No longer will I sit, a silent digit while my kid's a violence witness
Last time you did it, we cried, said you were finally finished
But over the tiniest incident, you're entirely flippin'
Though your mind wont admit it, you need an asylum committement
You SAY it's the drink, maybe the mood, but the violence...ISN'T
And instead of tryin' my 'vengeance', i've grown un optimistic
Last time was the final straw, you just gone off an picked it
you live in a sad existance when your son looks to you to say
"Mommy why do you wear sun glasses even on the rainy days?"
ashamed to say the reason, cryin but, he cant see it
Force a smile thats pleasing, hold him closely when I squeeze him..
I feel his heart beat against mine, and vow to change his life
I don't love you anymore, and I've made the change tonight"
    Door Opens

-Here you are, Ive been looking for my babe for hours
Here, I bought you this card and this boquet of flowers
I'm sorry for last night, Budwieser brings out the worst in me
Baby I'm never drinking again, THAT is a certainty
I hope you can forgive me, I'd die without you here with..
Me and little Jason, Over just a couple beer sips...
    What's that you're writing? -

Fighting back the tears, I reply "Nothing"..Ripping out the pages
But You and I know, it's another 'Wasted Explanation'
Is it fear, Or do I lack the amount of courage to step with???
Either way it goes..In My Situation...It's the age old question
*Throws Crumpled Sheet in the Trash*

    Serene Nightmare

I walk wit my face down strugglen to keep my head straight
Yea I have a pulse, but inside I feel like I'm dead weight
a slave to a drug, a victim to a merciless cycle
its like a nightmare, hard to put into words but i'll try to
I'm feelin worn n forlorn, my family tryed to forwarn
but I ignored and traded the rose in for more thorns
Now I'm in poor form, overwelmed by the sadness
My son waves goodbye as I blissfully slip away into madness

All I hear are the sad screams, is this just a bad dream?
these drugs n depression attack me like a tag team
its serene chaos, it never stops, never takes a day off
I would fight it but I dont really think it'll pay off
Well maybe for my kid, he suffers for the evil of my sins
While he watches me inject the needles into my skin
    I said to him...
"You like to pretendin ur a rapper, I've seen u act it out
well here ya go son, I juss gave u somethin to rap about"

I'd be there for him, but to these drugs I am powerless
The love is strong but my addiction over powers it
So I pass the blame, just tryin to mask the pain
knowing my soul will burn in everlastin flames
I cant complain, my wife on the other hand, I dont treat her the same
beatin her frame, she screams help but shes jus feedin the flames
These scars u cant jus go an remove, I still try to grow n improve
but its like the harder I try to get away, the slower I move

wuts happening? this agony is gradually gaggin me
and draggin me down into the depths of apathy
I have the anatomy of a tragedy wit the morbid feel of a horror film
welcome to horrorville, get ur order filled faster then u can snort a pill
This place is beautifully repulsive and attractively hideous
no sympothy or compassion this place is practically pitiless
cuz this place is a wasteland with nuthin to take from it
This place is my mind, and I can't escape from it

I feel myself losin steam, I let out the most putrid scream
is this really happening or is this just a lucid dream?
I wish it was as I wrap a rubber hose around my bicep
The vein popped, I injected the needle as my eyes wept
The house was empty but I was so high it didnt hit me
The note on the table said "I'm leavin n I'm takin my son wit me"
It shouldn't be a surprise after everything I put them thru
I've lost everything , now theres only one thing left to do

Suddenly I come to completely covered in cold sweat
I was shaking, the dread stuck with me like old debt
I was breathin heavy, but my heart was beatin steady
senses were dulled like a cheap machete even my feet was sweaty
Layin face up wit my palms down, cheaks pink like a prom gown
I started to regain control, slowly I began to calm down
my girl hugged me n said hunny r u ok? wuts happenin?
I said nuthin baby.. I just had a dream I was my dad again
    ~go back to sleep~

    4. No Show Shine

Main Stream was the only one who didn't post a no-show verse so he wins the 5 bonus points for winning the No-Show Shine section of the Magazine

The game had been over for ten minutes.

Yet a raucous rapture consumed all amassed in the room,
As a jury of journalists wait outside the Orlando Magic foyer -
I joined the back of the queue.
The chatter then grew, as banter was strewn amongst the disorder,
And suffice to say, it was the kind of baying you only get when there's blood in the water...
I study each author as they wait and seethe impatiently,
There was a choker in the locker room.
A kid who's blown his big chance to be a hero - That's who we had came to see.
Some strained to reach the team and it's boss, to glean them the goss,
But neither would stop when repeatedly mocked
"Did you really think it was that easy a shot?!"
The tedium's lost on the media mob who head straight for the same stall,
As the locker room door screeches open to reveal it's plain, four, gray walls...
We wade forth in great hordes,
Seeking a late source to deliver the public,
And all proceed to Courtney Lee's spot with number eleven written above it...

...His miss had left millions soured.
He was still in the shower, as the mask he'd courageously worn,
During the game to protect a broken cheekbone now lay on the floor.
Our pages were drawn and laden with scrawls.
"So good to see Lee's used to wearing a mask," one reporter pondered wistfully,
"'Cause he may never want to show his face again after costing his underdogs a victory."
The shot predictably would blot his history,
Yet Lee wandered blissfully through the waiting barrage,
And paid no regard to the tasteless remarks they impatiently barked.
Braving their barbs wouldn't save him the darting glares,
From fans who'd been made to blame him,
For missing a relatively simple shot with just 0.6 seconds of the game remaining.
As columnists gamely waited the late duration in great frustration,
    And chief sports writers queried,
If Lee had made the shot Orlando would have won the game and tied the series.
    "The shot just didn't fall,"
"I wasn't able to complete the play" came the tentative statements,
He smiled through a mid-Western drawl while scrupulously polite and endlessly patient.
Lee's defense was persuasive but I was sensing a plaintive woe in his mute behaviour,
American sport was littered with players like him,
Who's whole careers had become defined by one crucial failure.
A suited savior arrived politely asking for space,
Placing knowing hands on Lee's broadest shoulders,
And we filed away as Lee sank into his stool with his gallant performance over.
I saw his sobering, haggard, look which suggested he'd had enough,
And slunk back from the newshounds -
To ask Lee about the tattoo on his arm which read R.I.P. Danny Rumph...

    ...He sat abruptly,
Glad to just take his mind off tonight's heinous spectacle.
Rumph was a college team-mate who had took him under his wing,
    The two became inseperable.
Lees face was destitute as he swallowed his tears,
His eyes grew hollow and pierced
"Danny had an enlarged heart. He collapsed and died on court that following year."
    He softened his sneer,
"With Danny gone to a better place, I then moved to a better team,
And now I dedicate everything that I do to his memory."
The truth obsequiously staked and savoured wouldn't be what made the papers,
    But it takes immense strength,
To overcome a setback like the one Lee suffered against the Lakers.
It had made him braver inside,
As given the daily reminder of Rumph and the day he died,
Lee knew all too well what adversity tasted like.
    It plagued his mind,
He could still hear the clock that ticked as the ball bounced off the rim.
But with his vast maturity he saw it for what it was, a paultry shot that missed.
    Lee sturdied his bottom lip,
Knowing there would be other times he'd be granted with a free-throw.
This wasn't important enough to ruin his life. He'd have another chance to be the hero.
And even though the task they had faced was ominous,
    And the Lakers dominant,
With his mask left on the dressing room floor, Lee would embrace the next game with confidence...

    6. Predictions

    L. Kross vs. Main Stream- This will be another dope championship match. I see L retaining his belt, though

Pain vs. Wordz vs. Fac3- All three writers are very talented. Pain has more experience though, and I see him taking this match.

Ace the Prophet vs. Link Gash- Good luck, homie

Soull vs. Crimz- All I have to go off of for Crimz is his no-show verse from last week. I’m going with Soull

Atreyu vs. Blitz- I only have a no-show verse from Atreyu to go off of as well. I’m thinking Blitz here

MC Guttso vs. liquid- While liquid is improving, he has the tough task of facing Guttso, who’s only lost twice this season. I’m siding with Guttso

Yung Troy vs. Shadow- This will be a pretty close match. Both writers have the basics and are improving. I’m thinking Shadow has the topical edge on this, though

NephYou vs. coil grimely- Haven’t read either of these writers before so I’m withdrawing a prediction. Good luck fellas.

Also, I’m deciding to include a twist this week! Along with the picture that you choose, you must intergrate this quote into your piece, somehow:

“There is no telling how many miles you will have to run while chasing a dream.”

    10. Conclusion

Well, that’s it for this week’s mag! Good luck to everyone. Let’s keep the voting strong and the no-shows low. Don’t forget that if you want an alternate you must post that you want one. Let’s get it rollin’.
