Rhymesayers Radio Tribute to Eyedea:
Rhymesayers Entertainment :: Radio
Im listening to this right now.
Carnage has been and steady is sick with it. Check out his Album Sense of Sound on Hecatomb. He's dope throughout the whole album as he is on his Coaches tracks with eyedea. Plus, Hes got a new album coming out real soon called Respect the Name that is dope, The tracks I've heard off it are amazing as hell!
Did he turn water to wine too?
yeah i think its pretty out there for dos to say all that, but i dont think its a stretch to give him credit for what he did to modern day battling...
damn when i was playing tonyhawk i didnt know that was eyedea...
that was always one of my favorite from the soundtrack.. such a sick song
he is mad original
RIP Mikey aka EYEDEA
As a person who has known mike for almost 12 years, I've been reticent to say anything on this board about him as we all know this is the place to talk shit and undermine everything.
However, I think it is in due dilligence and have everyone be aware to say that Mike did not kill himself and he died peacefully. I cannot say anything more than that as I respect the wishes of his beautiful mother Kathy and Rhymesayers Entertainment.
Mikey and Terrell aka Carnage are two of my mentors and good friends. Mikey and I went to rival high schools (Saint Paul Central and Highland Park) back in the late 90's early 2000s. A co-worker friend of mine Ben had told me to come to the highland park community center one friday night to see this kid "Mikey" rap and after that I was hooked. Everything was hip-hop in my life from that point on.
Michael was an amazing individual and we are so sad he is gone. However, while we have mourned, I know personally I begin to celebrate and smile thinking about all the great things my friend achieved and all the lives he has touched. All the wonderful music he has made will continue on and forever imprint his legacy. Mikey was an innovator of the freestyle and battle game, a brilliant songwriter and a kind, thoughtful soul.
I learned so much from him, but nothing greater than this one statement, "you can choose happiness."
RIP my friend, you are always missed and loved.

i still can't believe this
thank you for stopping by the words are appreciated.
damn rip eyedea
His music was just as great as his battles.
Eyedea had crazy abilities, but now abilities doesnt have an eyedea. still cant believe hes gone.
Been bumpin his music for a while. Rest Easy.
dos noun...is still allowed on the internet? i love how he took this opportunity to point out all the self-important and utterly inconsequential non-contributions he's forced on the world of hiphop, under the pretense of commemorating someone who was actually talented and everything he wasnt'...
really sucks, still, about eyedea. i saw him and Slug in 2000 in San Jose and they were brilliant multi-faceted poet/rapper/performers at that point. really hiphop as hell but just so different than anything i'd seen before and SUPER clean with their presentations.
Still can't process this shit. RIP.
Damn man sorry to hear. R.I.P. Eyedea.
who's idea? rip pg
smh @ me for waiting a month, but Eyedea was the first battler I ever saw win anything and my favorite rap battler until I got into the acapella format. Watching him be nerdy and white and kill shit in the 2000 Blaze battle was initially mind-blowing because I thought that Em was the only good white rapper. Later on it became mind-blowing simply because he was incredible and fucking intense to watch.

and eventually we cannot keep the water under our chin."-Eyedea
