Long story short...our capital is already swamped with radars carefully placed on various locations along roads, highways. Come beginning of November, 2nd biggest city got them too, and by Monday this week, radars snapped 15,839 drivers, which makes it approximately 110 speeding violations per hour. Company that installed the radars is baking around 100k eur/day, whilst the mayor only sees his cut of 8k eur. So far analysis of the first few thousand offenders revealed that 90% of speeding offenses in signalized urban arterial roads measure to less than 10 km/h over the official speed limitation. Suffice to say, this was kind of one of those events which broke the camel's back, and people got crafty, ending up torching a few of the radars. Others went protesting ~ never have people protested about such a thing before, it usually takes lighting them on fire to even attend protests. Or raising taxes.
