Multis alone aren't rap. Punchlines alone aren't rap. I agree with you. Quality rap is the quality combination of all the facets and factors of rap.

But multis, rhyme scheme, rhyme pattern, sound manipulation...that's still dope. Lol. Just not enough.

those are ok, but theres much better ones, but don't think multi's are everything, thats why a lot of battle rappers don't make good songs coz they focus too much on multi's

Some battle rappers aren't as expert in song making as they are in acapella battle stages because they simply haven't spent enough time honing their craft in that area. That's all.

Once they do? It's over. They'll run song making, too.

most battle rappers aren't song makers with a lot of vision beyond the technical aspect and line aspect......this is why most battle rappers are just attle rappers, and that is how tey got into rapping......it used to be different, when dudes like slug sage rhymefest biggie juice em etc... were doing it as a way to promote themselves so their music would be listened to hopefully......accapella is great for battles, but awful for people who started rapping because oof them.......a beat changes everything, and many cannot rap over a beat well.......when they can, they still focus on multi's and punches a lot.....bottom line music is a different talent, and anyone can be clever, but not may can write and perform songs very well.......

also there are many who just attle, and don't make music.....as well as the majority who spend time trying to make music and it sucks cause they started attling first.......dueds like ness are rappers turned battlers and ness is a great rapper........but he doesn't run song making he is just a great rapper who has a chance at success.......the saurus is amazing, he is a legend but he is not a great artist though he is not bad either.....illmac is a hybrid and is great at both.........

The industry hates music from battle rappers and assumes its garbage before hearing it.........they are not too wrong in a lot of cases

Check out the mixtapes and other dopeness that's featured on the HOME portion of this site. You might change your mind about the lack of song writing skills of top acapella battle rappers...

i did generalize it too much, cuz there are great rappers who battle.......there are a handful that I would try to help with the biz side.......I'm speaking from a view off what would sell, and what they would offer to music as a whole and a bunch of crap........

so sorry yo, you caught my generalization which i didn't explain well enough i guess......funny thing is business wise, you will not eve be heard often if you are a battle rapper, makes it harder to get that foot in the door.............

i'll check the home page stuff out.....thanks yo

You'll have to excuse my lack of knowledge regarding RM's battlers, @Freebass ~ I've only discovered Locksmith via a very noble recommendation.

If I'm not mistaken he recently released an album [which is amazing (as are his battles), btw].

eminem in his prime was a genius at slant rhyming and multis

Ayo, my pen and paper cause a chain reaction
To get your brain relaxing, a zany acting maniac in action
A brainiac in fact son, you mainly lack attraction
You look in-sanely whack when just a fraction of my tracks run
My rhyming- skills got you climbing hills
I travel through your mind into your spine like siren drills
I'm sliming grills of roaches, with sprayed on disinfectants
Twist the necks of rappers 'til their spinal column disconnects
We disinfect then check the monologue, turn your system up
Twist them up, and indulge in the marijuana smog
This is the season for noise pollution contamination
Examination of more cartoons than animation
    My lamination of narration
Hit's a snare and bass of track fucked up rapper interrogation
When I declare invasion, there ain't no time to be stare and gazing
I turn the stage into a barren wasteland...

@the rhyme king It's pretty meaningless multies though, little substance, it was impressive when I was young and over technical but not any more.

aye verb used to have the illest rhyme schemes ever

I got large shoes to fill and Hollow couldn’t try em on
He told me he was the best nigga in Queens, yeah, like I am dumb
It’s a big difference between a boxcutter and a firearm
My shit sound like choirs, drums, triumph songs
His sixteens’s tough as the quiet storm
Yeah, he hopped in this fire, but not knowing that it was five-alarm
This could only be a fair fight if I was writing for him
I was supposed to give Charlie Clips this night of horror
They threw Hollow at me, I said “Naw I might ignore him”
Then Hike told me “Verb, right or wrong
This what you do, you a battle rapper, no one cares if you can write a song
Gain some more views, take Hollow Da Don on
Besides, he ain’t even nice, he’s some shit you can go lighter on
I said “Should I do it?” I’ma go and do this shit then Hollow started talking shit
Woah! why would you ig-nite a bomb?
Real shit, I wasn’t comfy when I was out of town
But now, I am home and I am armed, I am calm
I’m running this battle scene myself, I’m not passing my baton
I’m above all y’all, none of y’all can see me, to you, I am god
    He a giant fraud, new-born va-gina hard
I been here since B.C. and a little time before
Resting with King Kong, I partied with the dinosaurs

nobody has flipped more rhyme patterns then biggie

seperate the weak from the obsolete
    Hard to creep them Brooklynstreets
It's on nigga, fuck all that bickering beef
I can hear sweat trickling down your cheek
Your heart-beat sound like Sasquatch feet
    Thunde-ring, shaking the concrete
Finish it, stop, when I foil the plot
Neighbors call the cops said they heard mad shots
Saw me in the drop, three in the corner

weak creep this is aa pattern with some internal rhyming

then he siwtches it to a bbaa pattern with bickering beef trickling cheek
making it a multisyllable rhyme pattern
