    Reflecting

I'm sitting here reminiscing as I look at my family
Thinking about how things use to be
    Growing up without a father
I had to become my own
Now I have my own kids
I have to teach them how to be grown
    With God watching over me
I know he will see me through
I know there is nothing he can't do
I became the farther to my kids that I wanted
    I do right by them
    Mine left me disappointing
I beat their ass out of love
    Not for know other reason
When they piss me off I scream it's ass whoopen season
My grandmother use to tell my mother
Raise him the best way you can
Life will teach him how to be a man
    I was a good kid
I was never one that was wild
    Sometimes I could be trifling
But I was still a child
    When my kids break things
    I have a motherfucking fit
I can hear my mother in my head
Saying you did the same shit
They think they got it bad
I be like are you for real
    Let's switch places
I'll go to school and let you pay the bills
They have it good and don't know it
I have mad love for them
    Everyday and I show it
I'm going to be there for my daughter
When she got her first heartbreak
And be there for my three sons
When they make their first mistakes
I can't protect them from everything
But I'll protect them from what I can
    To my kids I'm Superman
I tell them parents make mistakes
I try to get it right no matter how long it takes

I really liked this piece. It reminds me of so many of the same things I think and say to my son. My situation was a little different, but a same in many ways. But the sentiment is the same...

    I loved this part:

I can hear my mother in my head
Saying you did the same shit

    Thanks for sharing...
