are you guys seriously gonna hit on the line? it's corny but funny, it has the internet buzzing, and lil wayne obviously wasn't trying to spit an incredible mind-boggling original punchline that makes perfect sense like mc copywrite wannabe #8483.

i bet half of you people saying it was wack would defend lines like "I get in that ass like a wedgie" or "N*ggaz mad I get more butts than ashtrays".

Those are better lines, though. Would you really use "but this is just as wack as something written 16 years ago" as a defense?

well its not surprising that message board rap fans dont think Wayne is dope

How long have you guys been listening to rap? Is it because he's young black and very rich that you dont like him?

I really, really dont understand. How a guy like Wayne can spit an entire verse having at least one instance of wordplay in each line seamlessly interwoven into his verse as to not sound forced. And you guys, who dissect lyrics like scientists, cant realize how dope he is?

Throw dirt on me and grow a wildflower
But it’s "fuck the world", get a child out her
Yeah, my life a bitch, but you know nothing bout her
Been to hell and back, I can show you vouchers
I’m rolling Sweets, I’m smoking sour
Married to the game but she broke her vows
That’s why my bars are full of broken bottles
And my night stands are full of open Bibles
I think about more than I forget
But I don’t go around fire expecting not to sweat
And these niggas know I lay them down, make their bed
Bitches try to kick me while I’m down, I’ll break your leg
Money outweighing problems on the triple beam
I’m sticking to the script, you n-ggas skipping scenes
Be good or be good at it
Fucking right I’ve got my gun, semi-Cartermatic
Yeah, put a dick in their mouth, so I guess it’s “fuck what they say”
I’m high as a bitch: up, up and away
Man, I come down in a couple of days
OK, you want me up in the cage, then I’ll come out in beast mode
I got this world stuck in the safe, combination is the G-code
It’s Weezy motherf-cker, blood gang and I’m in bleed mode
All about my dough but I don’t even check the peephole
So you can keep knocking but won’t knock me down
No love lost, no love found

It's more presumable that the more you listen to rap, the more he gets wack
Duke's always been wack to me

And text alone doesn't make dopeness, and those wordplays aren't that impressive

half of that "Drop the World" verse is great, half is terrible. That's the Lil' Wayne ratio, never fails.

I remember when Wayne started picking up momentum on '04, and white/hipster media finally took note in '07 or so, every article gushing over dude (no one is ever fairly appraised ever, so it was expected) mentioned that "eat a star" line, which they pointed to as proof that dude was on some other shit. My thing was always, even when I listen really hard to lyrics, that line was never that great, no matter how I tried to look at it or be open-minded. But the press were just flooding themselves over it, as if no other rapper had said anything like that.

    ramble ramble.

this site really seems to flip flop between backpacker elitism and a i-hate-backpackers mentality.
