What I don't know won't hurt me, so I don't dig to find out who writes their shit or not...but if I know you don't write your shit, you get no respect from me as an mc. I may like the music and listen to it, but no respect is given as far as being an mc. Hiphop isn't pop or rnb where vocals are the "skill", writing is just as much part of the "skill" as flowing/delivery in rap music. Dre isn't an mc, he's a producer who double dips by posing as a rapper instead of just releasing a beat compilation with real mc's rapping over them...same with Diddy, except he's not even a producer. It's not even like they take the lyrics and make them theirs, you can blatantly hear who wrote the rhymes for the most part. Jay's flow is all over Still DRE, and I laughed when i heard the song Pharoah Monch wrote on that Diddy album. I kinda feel insulted by shit like that, like who the fuck wants to hear Diddy try to spit lke Monch.

These were EXACTLY my thoughts for years... but now, I'm more moderate... I'll bump it if it's dope, but I won't give them credit.

Dre is amazing, though, the way he's able to co-opt the writer's flow to a T... he did that with Jay, Em, Kendrick, Cube, etc... he's probably the best producer on the mic of all time.

Diddy sucks as a rapper, but he was tolerable on "All About the Benjamins"

I hate rappers that use ghostwriters. That shit to me isn't worthy of respect

But Dre's a producer and it's been known he uses ghostwriters. Whoever said it was amazing how Dre can fit his flow/delivery to whoever writes for him was write. It's tough to do so I guess I credit him for that.

But if you're someone that's claiming you're one of the best lyricists/artists out there and you use ghostwriters then that shit's just stupid. Fuck you for that, basically

Just get them to rap it as they intended, listen to it over and over and do it how they do. It's not that hard IMHO.
