I went to the the los angeles recording school, and it thought me alot, but the price was 20,000. So just be sure that this is the choice you want to make because there alot of books on the subject, but at school you can get that hands on experience which is helpful, especialy when you get to work with the big mixers.
So the PROs are that you get the hands on experience and you can get to learn from teachers that have experience in the industry.
the cons are that it's costly, a job is not guaranteed because alot of big studios are closing, depending where on you go, the cost of living is high so you might have to end up staying in a expensive apartment. If you go to los angeles recording school be prepared to pay for parking because free parking is no longer available.
