ok first why would u want that mic if your voice is that high an your only 13? u should try somethin out like the AT2020 $100. thats a real good mic for its price and gives u the quality u will need. and why would u want the KSM 27 Shure mic with a cheap pre amp? if u want that mic and u want the "true" sound that it really gives. u will need a good pre amp. not one thats only 100 $.

    PStew.

You need to make your mind up, because I've seen you floating on this topic too much.

Why should he get a Shure KSM27, and not an AT 2020?
    How about these reasons.

    1. His voice would work ok with the 2020, but not his friends.
    2. It's a better quality mic.
    3. When his nuts drop, and his voice changes, and it will SOON, he won't need to REPLACE the Shure.
    4. As far as the pre-amp goes, it's better to get a mic that suits you, and a low budget pre, than a good pre, and mic that doesnt.

Stew, what soundcard do you have?
You need a recording card, and a cheap one is the E-Mu 0404 for $99

As for the Shure KSM 27, look on froogle.com, and ebay.com, I'm sure you'll find one even cheaper than $299

For a pre, I suggest you look into an M-Audio DMP3.

Stew, if your looking at the E-Mu 1212m, which runs $200, and you also look to spend some dough on a pre, then I seriously suggest you save up, and get an E-Mu 1820M which is an interface, has 2 pres, and more I.O than you'll know what to do with.

    ^

about $500 and then your mic will cost you $300.... then all the cables and accessories will be like $60... thats 860 dollars to spend on equipment when you suck and haven't even hit puberty... where would you even get all that money since you were bragging you're so "gangsta and poor and you're on your own in life just you and your girl" lmao

man, please dont blow 1000 dollars on stuff you dont necessarilly need.....

I still suggest, since you want mic's to suit a variety of voices

try 2 of the following mic's(use ebay to save money, find the lowest price from an ebay store)
    MXLv67g
    Oktava MK319
    Audio Technica 2020
shit you can even find a AT3035 on ebay for 135 shipped sometimes.
    Studio Projects B1

And one of the following Preamps
    M-AUDIO DMP3
M-Audio Audiobuddy(good clean and quiet really inexpensive)

    and the emu 0404 soundcard.....

yo can get this entire setup if you go with 2 of the 100 or less mics, and the audio buddy for around $400 or so including cables, pop filters, and mic stands....and you will have a nice and versatile setup.

i think you will be happy and get years of use out of this setup, if the need arises to upgrade....you can do it piece by piece as time progresses...and as you start working and making $$ for youself and stuff.

Wargasms, the B1 isn't going to fit either, have you heard them?
And he's 13, when does a normal kids voice change?
    Exactly.

    AON, im saying....

something like the V67g or the Oktava might do the trick now.....

and B1 might be preferable when the voice changes

I'm not downing your opinion, and I won't unless I know for a fact it's wrong, and yours is partly right, the Oktava will work, I can't disagree there, but we can save the kid money, time, and effort, as well as possible quality, by him getting the Shure now.

If he buys 2 mics, odds are he will have to upgrade both, and maybe even buy another should there ever come another member into the scene.

So your looking at $200 for the first 2, and probably double that for the second 2, as there are no other $100 mics that can be considered an upgrade, so in terms of now/later he is looking forward to spending $600 due to voice changes, and he could have solved it all, by spending half, and getting a mic that would work with any voice, at any time, for any recording situation.
