pre amp or mixer

    should i rather get a decent mackie mixer for like 600 or a preamp for like 300...
    i heard the mackie preamps are dope.. but can they fuck with normal preamps?

    this question has been answered alot

    its very simple, if you don't need multiple inputs, don't get a mixer, cuz its just a waste of money... get a good pre-amp.. for a bit over $600 you can get a DOPE pre-amp... Ghetalion recommends Focusrite Voicemaster Pro... I trust him cuz he knows his shit

    The only reason I'm recommending the VoiceMaster is because it's FocusRite and they pump out dependable gear at a medium price. If you have the need for multiple inputs and outputs, go with the mixer. If you are just one guy with one mic, then one preamp will be fine.

    And yes, mixers are infinitely useful if you have your signal flow correctly setup and you are using multiple pieces of gear or have multiple monitors to check your sound on.
